I haven't used my laptop in the car yet so I haven't looked for GPS software, I have a TomTom and my cell phone has GPS so I mainly use that. However I will most likely go with Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009.Cool cool.
What software do you use for GPS on your lappy? My buddy is a PPC FireFighter with Mission Township here in Topeka and needs some GPS software that's accurate and reliable.

By the way, I'm thinking about getting an Acer Aspire One instead, which is an 8.9" laptop with Windows XP.
Never really thought about that, something to keep in mineCool. Well if you get an Acer or something similar, I'd highly recommend getting one with a solid state harddrive. I know how rough code 3 can be and regular harddrives don't last long. Just an idea![]()

haha, honestly though I wouldn't use my laptop on the way to a call since the station is only 2 minutes from my house, and most calls are within 5 minutes from my house. I also plan to take the laptop out places, so the 160GB storage of an Asus Eee would really be nice.Ya, his truck rides pretty rough so he almost has to have a solid state drive. Your tundra is probably rather smooth though, but you can get an Acer or something similar with a 16GB hd which is all you need for GPS or internet browsing. It's a bad feeling when you try to lookup an address with no go, but what is dispatch for, right?![]()

Thanks for your comments so far though!
Same here, I have everything in my truck and I live in a small town. I almost always respond to the scene unless I will be driving by the station anyways (someone needs to be in the engine!).Ah, well that makes sense. Here if you're at home, have bunker gear, trauma bag etc. you can respond directly to the call. But we're also in a township department, not a city.
Anyway, keep us updated as I'm sure you will with what you get.

I tried out the Aspire one that was $349 at Staples, it was a nice netbook but I really didn't care for the trackpad buttons being on the side, and the 2-2.5 hours of battery life wasn't enough for me.Hey great truck you have.
Myself, i just purchased an Acer Aspire, after trying out the aspire and an eee PC, i thought the aspire was a better choice for me, and i still think its better.
