I have got this build list (A knowledgeable friend helped me set it up):

CPU - i5-3470 3.2GHz
Motherboard - MSI H61M-P31 (G3) Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard (My friend said that a Micro-ATX would work fine as i don't plan to put a sound card in)
Memory - Corsair 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage - Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Graphics card - GTX 550 Ti
Case - XClio Nighthawk ATX Mid Tower Case
Power - Corsair Builder 430W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply
Optical Drive - Samsung SH-222BB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer
OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

Total Price: £545.91

Can anyone see anything drastically wrong with this? Or anything that should be improved (with minimal price increase)?

you probably want a 7 series board for the 3rd gen i series chip, i have a feeling you may have a issue there, maybe not.

Dont know where your gettig your stuff.

A 3570K just runs like 15 bucks more. Or even a FX 8320 for 160 bucks.
Try to spend another 20 bucks for a Z77 chip set board. Or with a AMD 8320 could get a GA 970A UD3 for like 100 bucks.

Look at some DDR3 1866 or 2133, some times even close to the same price.

If you could go with the GA 970A UD3 and the FX 8320, with the money left over you could upgrade to a HD 7870.

For the price difference I would go with the Corsair CX 500.

I would advise against buying from about 5 different stores. Choose one and get everything from there. I live in the UK and personally I buy from Novatech. Always liked them.

Yes, get the 3570K if you can. Get a Z77 board. Get a better GPU with a stronger PSU.

It would just be cheaper if i did get to from different stores. And money is one of the greatest factors i have to consider...

Yes but it's more of a hassle if anything goes wrong and you need to send stuff back.

I just prefer buying from one place. Overclockers is good, get it all from there.

If you're on a budget of 500 drop down to an i3 and get a 7850 as your graphics card if you can.

I mainly play the 'Total War' games, i would like some FPS and other games to run though. I shall consult my friend and tell him what i has been recommended...

Yeah tell him I think you should go for a Z77 board, an i3 3220, a CX 500 PSU, and a Radeon 7850. For 500, that's the best base you can get IMO.

Maybe go for 4GB of RAM? Or 8GB in 2x4?

Go for a smaller HDD, see how much cheaper a 500GB drive is.

The video card is making this expensive. Maybe go for a 6870 or a 6850. I reckon if you use a 6850 and the changes above you could get it close to £500.
