My Updated Build!

Yes. I just figured it out bumped it to 2.4ghz in unlinked mode... i was looking for CPU frequency when it said FSB (QDR) right in front of me!

Im going to bump it to 2.8ghz and prime95 for an hour or so. my brother is bugging me to get on the computer but it isn't ready yet!

And windows updates hates me :( it won't download anything...

Good old speedfan is reporting my CPU voltage at 3.3v... before it was 0.6 and 1.79

What OS are you running on?

Have you tried running HWmonitor and seeing what it says about the Vcore? 3.3V sounds very high.

It isn't running at that voltage at all! Speedfan is just wrong. like it detected my CPU temp as -128*C before... (old mobo)

Ok i'll download that. I'm currently downloading vista SP2 manually because windows updates has died on me. it says downloading but it always stays at 0%

My core #2 temp is like 6c hotter than core #1 now. (2.4ghz) and core #2 is getting used more than core #1.. whats going on here?

Hmm. You made sure that the thermal paste was applied correctly?

Try http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ Coretemp to see if it says any different.. Have you checked the temps in Bios to see if those were any different? ? Have you enabled both cores under MSCONFIG? (That's mainly for startup, though, but worth a shot!).

What's it like under a load? I know AMD has Cool 'n Quiet that underclocks the CPU when not under stress, is there something like this from Intel?

Yes i've done all that. I turned off speedstep. it looks like some program was only assigned a single core. it's all good now.

And i found that tube of AS5 among the many packaging things. :)

Ha...sweet!

Ya got it...about time. Wow...the lady at the post office was just about right...10 days she said.

Looks like everything fired up and is working. (can't see the pics...I am at work:D) I had it for a little over a year and it ran great for me. Never had an issue with it. The only issues I did have were self inflicted:D (Doing things maybe that should not have been done;)

Check this out...you know I actually got a higher 3Dmark06 score with that motherboard than with the Evga 780i:)

At all the same clocks...CPU at 2.5 (stock) RAM at 800MHz and GPU (GTX 260 stock clocks) and the Asus board scored on average about 700 point higher:eek: That's with the PCI-E 1.0 slot the Asus board has! That is not a lie. Of course my score is much better with overclocking this new board...that's a nice budget motherboard.

It's not a real CPU burning overclocker but you can if you spend some time with it.

There is a Asus P5N-E thread on Overclock.net...they helped me out a little bit. I don't know how active it is now...it was very active thread a year ago. I just looked and they are still messing around in there. It is almost 1000 pages:eek: Some very good information in there;)

****EDIT****

I have not done the pencil mod for vDroop;)

Yep, everythings good! Vista is screwing me around with activation and updates again...

Ugh, vista is a mess to install!

I hard a hard time finding that tube of AS5 in that humongous box with all the packaging.. but i found it.

that's my overclock for now. :) Better run some prime95

Cores are still maxing out at 48*C :D time to go for 3.2ghz

Dude...your chip runs at 800 FSb...hitting almost 1200 is actually pretty good. I would not be disapointed really.

What were you able to hit for a FSB with your old board?

With that board I could hit 1600 FSB with my chip...anyhing more and it would fail. With the Evga 780i I can hit 1800 FSB:D

The RAM is very pickey with that board...might want to increase the RAM voltage a little.
