Ok, heres the question. My old computer went up to my sisters room. She has a thing where you can put the floppy disk thing in the front. My new Dell does not..I was gonna get some friends to help me with the floppy, but they know of no other ways..I need to get her typing from that old crap cop w/o the net, to the new good dell.

If not, I will have to let her on!

I need to get my sisters words for her project to a new comp..and the new comp doesnt have a floppy disk thing..but the old comp does..so i need a way to get her project from her comp to new one cause the new one has printer

And you dont have a floppy is that right? is there a cd burner? a usb jump drive?

I have floppy disks, just for some reason my BRAND NEW dell doesnt have the part where you put the floppy in but the old one it does...the new comp can burn cds, old one cant

Ouch. hmmm well if you dont have a jump drive or anything else to transfer the files and I would assume your not ready to network the pc's then I think your going to have to let er use it :(. Of course you can always instal the printer onto the computer that has her work stored.

err....true I was thinking of the printer thing..you cant like save the work on a CD-RW? I have like 10 of them..Or MAYBE can install the cdburner software on her comp if that does anything?

Networking the comps? You could teach me how-:).

I think you can buy them at any place that sells computers/computer parts. Even Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart...I've have seen them there too.

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong:
Sisters computer - has floppy, has documents that need to be printed, no CD-R
Your computer - no floppy, has CD-R, has printer installed

If thats the case the easiest way would be to instal the printer on your sister's computer (as was mentioned earlier). If you want to you could network them, though that might be a bit of work (need either a hub, router, or cross-over cable). Finally there's hardware swapping but that's probably more trouble than its worth.

Actualy.... Easiest way would be to let your sister use the printer to print out the documents which couldn't take very long and certainly not nearly as long as it's taken to figure out how to transfer em to the other computer ;).

Errr yea so anyhow as said above and as I've said already :). put that printer onto her computer and print away. dont swap hardware.

lol, so heres how it went. I was gonna put net to that comp, carried it down here, the internet wouldnt connect right...so then i try to hook printer up, couldnt find the parrel cable, so had to use the USB. That didnt hook up on her comp. So I ended up typing it for her..at like 11:30 at night..

Thanks though guys!
