Hey guys,

I've got about 1200USD budget, looking to build a good enough computer to run MW3/BF3/TF2/Dota2/RS.

I don't know much about this , so please advise me.

Mouse: Razer Abyssus 3500 DPI

Looking for a decently good graphics card - Sapphire HD6850/6870/6950

Looking at 8GB RAM- If its not good enough you can tell me. I can increase it.

Case- Preferably NZXT/ Cooler master

Please give me a rough price+ all the required parts. Eg. Motherboard etc.]

I don't have anything i can re-use so i'll have to buy everything brand new. I can push the budget to a bit higher if needed.

Thanks for helping!:)

I dont think i would want to spend so much on the graphic card, would the HD6850 be good enough?
would antec 620 or antec 920 cooling be better? i dont want my computer to overheat.

Can u please breakdown the parts? like ASrock is a motherboard etc..? cos i don't understand most of them :O

okay, the GTX580 is one of the best cards on the market, behind the HD7900 line and GTX670 and GTX680. It will play anything out there at or near to max. If you do not want that much graphics then I would go to a HD6950 if I were you.

920 would be better than 620, but unless you are overclocking at an excessively high voltage then you will be far beyond fine with the 620.

The Z77 extreme4 is one of the best out there in bang for the buck. Basically what you look for in a motherboard is the right socket and a decent chipset. Z77 will allow overclocking, where some of the lowers like H67 and H77 will not. On top of that, you want a reliable brand like ASrock, Gigabyte, MSI or EVGA. Asus is hit or miss, some do not have issues with them, some have heaps of issues.

the gtx580 is too expensive, i would go with something cheaper, either the hd6950 or the hd6850.

Is it Z77 extreme 4 or Z77 extreme 4-M? Over here in my country theres a difference in price, where the "M" is cheaper. i would go with the better one, as i want a good and lasting computer. This is basically the motherboard right?

I would be going with the 620 as you recommended.

Please continue to check this thread once in a while i'll be asking you a few more questions relating this matter, thanks man :)

in my defense, you said the budget was 1200 USD. I built within that and had room to spare.

The Extreme 4. the 4-m is smaller and thus hotter.

The 620 is a great cooler. It is what I am going with when I upgrade.

I would take the 6950 far ahead of the 6850. it will definitely pown it.

I duno, 6850 isn't that bad either, plus its near 100 dollars cheaper, but don't count on this card running on high on games that are FPS.

Or you can try a set up for Gtx 550 TI Sli apparently I hear its pretty neat for its price. SLI meaning x2 of the graphic card, so you will have to buy 2 of these cards, which will bring you little over $200, cheaper then gtx 560ti, and better than gtx 560ti, which is the one I have.

For more video check the sample videos and check for the guy who uploaded them, apparently he has 550 gtx ti slli set up with many different games

(MSI Version)
Do you have fry's electronics near you? If so you can get these for $84.99 right now, cheapest I saw on 550ti ever, also its MSI Overclocked version which goes up for $140 on newegg

(Frys)

(Newegg)

[$99]

[Antec 620 Liquid cooler for CPU]
I also picked up Antec Khuler 620 Liquid cooling for CPU for $29 bucks after mail in rebate at frys. If you got frys near you, if not try calling Amazon and see if they will price match frys,

(Amazon Link for Antec 620) [$58]

(Frys link for Antec 620) [$29] (After 10 dollar mail in rebate)

Still its 39 dollars, but thats the cheapest I ever seen for these liquid coolers, very very good price right now, so try calling amazon to price match Frys if you dont have one near you.

These are very good Coolers In my opinion, so far I only have used them for 1 day, I just got them yesterday. My i5 3570k was running on 50c+ on just surfing the web, now its running on 31c.
I have not tried gaming yet, but the cpu used to run at +77C which is pretty hot, now I will have to test how this baby will do it now. I ll let you know the reviews

Power Supply
Yes the Tx750 what he recommended is great for its price, $89 after mail in rebate, great deal, Also since its SLI ready also it will go great with 550gtx ti SLI if you choose to go for that combo, and the 750w will be great for future upgrades to stronger graphic card

Ram
8gb will be plenty, Im using 8gb and most gaming Im only getting up to 4gb usage max.
Try checking these if you got a Microcenter near you.

(Kingston Hyper x 8gb 1600mhz)
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0360527
($39)
...though yesterday they were like $27 dollars when I recommended them for someone :s
still its 10 dollars cheaper then other memory in that class.

Or you can try to get this one if you dont have micro center near you
(Corsair vengence 8gb 1600mhz)[ $49]
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345

I have these and they are good :)

CPU & Motherboard *Only if you have a micro center near you! or willing to drive very far if not lol*
Right now Micro center is having a beast of a deal going on for New Ivy bridge Processors
i5 3570k normally goes for

(Newegg i5-3570k)
$240, normally its $250
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504

(Microcenter i5-3570k)
But at micro center they are having a sale for $189
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0388577

Also if you buy these combo now, you can get $50 dollars off on any z77 motherboards which is very very good.
For example Gigabyte z77x-ud3h which is a great board and will do SLi configuration

(Microcenter) [$114 with purchase of i5-3570k]
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0387556

(Newegg) [$160 on sale]
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128544&Tpk=z77 ud3h

(Or you can even go with ud5h version if you have one in your local area, where I am in Bay area California its all sold out)

Check this thread out on slick deals, its very hot right now, I also got my i5 and motherboard set up from micro center deal as well

The 6950 is a far stronger card though, see here http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/539?vs=510 I'd say a 6950 is worth the extra 100 bucks.

If a 6950 is too expensive, take a look into the 6870 maybe. It sits between the 6850 and the 6950, and it's very good for the price. :)

I will suggest the 7850 over a 6950

Has an edge over 6950, newer, efficient, same price.

Ye I too would probably recommend a 7850 over a 6950. :)

I have to join this arugment, because wolfeking built a killer rig when you said you couls spwnd $1200.A 6850 really wil not come close at all to a 580, at ALL!A 570 is a better card than a 6970, which was the top of the line amd card when the 6850 was out.So, the 6850 is NOT for a hi budget gaming rig.Oh, and change the 580 to a 670.A 670 is like a 5% differance under 680, and the 680 is 50% bettrer than a 580.And a 670 is the same price as a 580, plus newer tech.

Chill out guys. this is not an argument :) you guys are just helping me out. appreciated. I have to sleep now and will read in depth tomorrow. Thanks!

I was thinking of the i7-3770k, bundled with the asrock Z77 Extreme 4.

Which brand of the graphics card should i get ? for example, GTX580 - Asus/pallit
HD6950 - sapphire/Asus

3770K doesn't have any advantages when gaming, 2500K/3570K will be the best for you gaming needs. Speaking basically 3770K=2500K while gaming.

Which GPU have you finalized? You will have to choose a GPU before choosing a brand. If you selected GTX 580 then EVGA, Asus, MSI are among the best. 6950 Sapphire, Asus, XFX would be good.

I'll probably get the 6950. I still have to buy a monitor and other accessories like mouse/ keyboard. Hoping to keep it within the budget. which brand should i get for the HD6950?

Choose a brand which has good service support, sapphire, XFX and Asus are all good brands.
