need help Witch computer is better?

I have been into computers for a month now and i was wondering, most people chose the amd computer, I was wondering if the Pentium D Dual Core would beat the Athlon 64. I have 3 computers to compare around the same prices. Please tell me the advantages and the disadvantages.

I was planning to get a newer computer for both Gaming and work, because i know this old P3 500mhz cant be upgraded

Gaming for Counter-strike:source, WoW etc..
Work for CAD,3d video editing etc...

These processors are different because they have different amounts of pins, therefore they won't both fit on the same motherboard.

These 2 CPUs can't really be compared because the Intel Pentium D is a Dual Core CPU and the Athlon64 3000+ isn't. (Correct me if i'm wrong)

The secend one may be socket 939 by it only has 512MB's of ram, I would go for the first one, Unless you get the secend one and buy another stick of 512MBDDR400 ram.

Okay, the Dual pentium D is out, and i don't know why, theres 2 processors! and also has PCI-E but since i dont know much about computers and just getting into it, i will agree with you guys. Pentium D is out. For the other 2 AMD's two of you chose the first one AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 754PIN 512K L2 Cache, and the other two chose the 2nd one AMD Athlon 64 3000+ BI 939 Pins 512K L2 Cache, and ofcourse none for the Pentium, its kinda hard to choose witch one now. I'm not planning to upgrade any soon, probably will after 2 or 3 years.

I modified the 2nd one to try to make it the same as the first one but it became more expensive then the first one. All of this is from the same site, so the modified computer is $106 more than the first one. Is it the 420 Watt Thermaltake Power Supply With Dual Fan and the socket 939 the extra $106?

I would say go with the pentum pc. Only because it has the PCI Express and the other 2 have AGP and AGP is dieing, and It's duel core so it will be good for your "work" and still do okay in games.

Dave i would suggest looking around for another system or better yet build your own. If you want to play games you will want AMD but the AMD's you listed are only on an AGP board. I would highly suggest looking around more and if you know how to build, by all means do that.

what cad applications? what video editing apps? odds are the final answer will be either that you wont notice a difference or the x2 will have a performance edge

its not worth $40. have a look at PSU 101 (both to see why and to see some countersuggestions).
