And another thing, these computers are better than the AMD Sempron,AMD Athlon XP,Intel Celeron, P4 Value LGA 775, Intel P4 Socket 478 computers.

Am I correct?

in order for us to help u with this decision to the best of our abilities, we need to know what u plan to use this comp for....gaming? video editing? online? word documents? multiple uses at once?

I was planning to get a newer computer for both Gaming and work, because i know this old P3 500mhz cant be upgraded

Gaming for Counter-strike:source, WoW etc..
Work for CAD,3d video editing etc...

Hmmm...

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 754PIN 512K L2 Cache
These processors are different because they have different amounts of pins, therefore they won't both fit on the same motherboard.
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ BI 939 Pins 512K L2 Cache
These 2 CPUs can't really be compared because the Intel Pentium D is a Dual Core CPU and the Athlon64 3000+ isn't. (Correct me if i'm wrong)
Intel Pentium D Dual Core Processor 2.8GHz 820 LGA 775 FSB800 2MB

I believe that the Intel Pentium D Dual Core CPU can possibly be compared to the AMD Athlon64 X2 series.

Out of the 3 PCs that davie listed, ^^^
I would probably go for this one:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 754PIN 512K L2 Cache
1024MB (1 GB) DDR400 PC3200 Memory (Major Brand)
ASUS K8V SE Deluxe Mother Board
Western Digital 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA
LG 16X 4163B DVD RW +- Dual Layer (black) (special)
LG Combo Drive 52X CD-RW 16X DVD-ROM (black)
ATI Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro Atlantis Ultra, AGP 8X, 128MB DDR, DVI, TV-Out
Onboard Audio
Onboard Network Card
Alien Case (black)
400 Watt Power Supply

Total Price: $666 us

I would go with a socket 939 3200 to make it better for later upgrades or you could keep that one until AMD releases the socket m2 CPUs

The secend one may be socket 939 by it only has 512MB's of ram, I would go for the first one, Unless you get the secend one and buy another stick of 512MBDDR400 ram.

Okay, the Dual pentium D is out, and i don't know why, theres 2 processors! and also has PCI-E but since i dont know much about computers and just getting into it, i will agree with you guys. Pentium D is out. For the other 2 AMD's two of you chose the first one AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 754PIN 512K L2 Cache, and the other two chose the 2nd one AMD Athlon 64 3000+ BI 939 Pins 512K L2 Cache, and ofcourse none for the Pentium, its kinda hard to choose witch one now. I'm not planning to upgrade any soon, probably will after 2 or 3 years.

I modified the 2nd one to try to make it the same as the first one but it became more expensive then the first one. All of this is from the same site, so the modified computer is $106 more than the first one. Is it the 420 Watt Thermaltake Power Supply With Dual Fan and the socket 939 the extra $106?

First one:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 754PIN 512K L2 Cache
1024MB (1 GB) DDR400 PC3200 Memory (Major Brand)
ASUS K8V SE Deluxe Mother Board
Western Digital 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA
LG 16X 4163B DVD RW +- Dual Layer (black) (special)
LG Combo Drive 52X CD-RW 16X DVD-ROM (black)
ATI Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro Atlantis Ultra, AGP 8X, 128MB DDR, DVI, TV-Out
Onboard Audio
Onboard Network Card
Alien Case (black)
400 Watt Power Supply

Total Price: $666 us

2nd one (Modified)

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ BI 939 Pins 512K L2 Cache
1024MB DDR400 PC3200 Memory (Infineon / Apacer / Hynix) (512MB x 2)
ASUS A8V Mother Board
Western Digital 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA
LG 16X 4165 DVD RW +- Dual Layer (special)
ATI Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro, AGP 8X, 256MB DDR, DVI, TV-Out
Onboard Audio
Onboard Network Card
Standard ATX Case
420 Watt Thermaltake Power Supply With Dual Fan

$772 us

I would say go with the pentum pc. Only because it has the PCI Express and the other 2 have AGP and AGP is dieing, and It's duel core so it will be good for your "work" and still do okay in games.

Pentium 4 is a horrible processor!
Do i smell a little bit of a fanboy? :D

Dave i would suggest looking around for another system or better yet build your own. If you want to play games you will want AMD but the AMD's you listed are only on an AGP board. I would highly suggest looking around more and if you know how to build, by all means do that.

or this

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ BI 939 Pins 512K L2 Cache

both of them are good

i was wondering if the Pentium d dual core would beat the Athlon 64.
it can -- but what for what application did you have in mind?

gaming for counter-strike:source, wow etc..
work for cad,3d video editing etc...
what cad applications? what video editing apps? odds are the final answer will be either that you wont notice a difference or the x2 will have a performance edge

these processors are different because they have different amounts of pins, therefore they won't both fit on the same motherboard.
thats why they are going on different motherboards

these 2 CPUs can't really be compared because the Intel Pentium d is a dual core CPU and the Athlon64 3000+ isn't. (correct me if i'm wrong)
you can still compare them.

i believe that the Intel Pentium d dual core CPU can possibly be compared to the AMD Athlon64 x2 series.
obviously you can compare them but how does it compare (i.e., thats what we're tying to tackle)

okay, the dual Pentium d is out, and i don't know why, theres 2 processors! and also has PCI-e but since i dont know much about computers and just getting into it, i will agree with you guys. Pentium d is out. for the other 2 AMD's two of you chose the first one AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 754pin 512k l2 cache, and the other two chose the 2nd one AMD Athlon 64 3000+ bi 939 pins 512k l2 cache, and ofcourse none for the Pentium, its kinda hard to choose witch one now. i'm not planning to upgrade any soon, probably will after 2 or 3 years.
wow that was a (way too) quick decision...

is it the 420 watt Thermaltake power supply with dual fan and the socket 939 the extra $106?
its not worth $40. have a look at PSU 101 (both to see why and to see some countersuggestions).

GO WITH THE FIRST ONE!!! two cores are pretty crappy!!!! Pentium 4 is a horrible processor!
STUPIDPOST1.jpg

Okay, AGPs are dying, I only have around $600 but i'm going to work another month to get 1000 to get a pci-e one.
In that case,

- AMD Athlon64 X2 3800 [ADA3800DAA5BV, 350USD]
- NEC 3540A [40USD]
- PNY Optima 2x512 [CL2.5, 80USD]
- Maxtor DiamondMax10 250GB [16MB, 95USD]
- XClio 450W [12V@32A, 50USD]
- MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum [125USD]
Subtotal = 740USD

Tons of room to get anything from a 6600GT to a X850Pro

GO WITH THE FIRST ONE!!! two cores are pretty crappy!!!! Pentium 4 is a horrible processor!

OK why are duel cores crappy (they aren't) Why are P4's horrible? (they aren't).
Please dont post like this. It helped no one and made you look less then intelegent.
