Need help with computer casing.

So is there any graphics card that will be better and will not take up space? or a way to fit that graphics card in there any way?

PCI riser card?

Since I don't know high end gaming cards very well I'll leave that to someone else. Whatever it is it will have to be single slot like the one you currently have otherwise it won't fit that board no matter what case you put it in.

Kimsland is right.. if you want to build around the Geforce GTS 250 you are going to have to get a different MB.

Ok so I think I came to a conclusion? maybe?

how about a bigger case for the psu and since the heat sink is to close

a pci-e riser card?

also I know ill run into some troubles with the video card wire but ill find a way threw that.

How you going to get the ports for the vid card outside the case unless the case is designed for a riser card and has horizontal port access you are solving nothing.

IMHO there is a point where it gets too complex and resign to the fact that it is what it is and you can't use THAT card with THAT board.

Find the best single slot game card it will support change the case to fit the PSU and cool factor and leave it at that.

Don't think the vid card would fit even in a new case and the wires were rerouted... from the looks of the position of the south bridge heat sink there isn't going to be enough space since the card covers 2 slots. The heat sink is going to interfere unless it is lower than the second slot. As for the PSU a different case would solve that problem but probably not the new vid card.

Actually I believe it will fit. My 4850 is right over my southbridge and has plenty of room. That heatsink doesn't look that tall and if he measures it and tells me the hight of it I will be able to tell him if it will fit. Ok I just measured my soutbridge HS and it is 1.5cm tall and my 4850 has plenty of room to fit.

Your 4850 is a single slot design... Go look at the pictures of this beastie (Geforce GTS 250). It is a two slot design and way wider than your 4850.

No my 4850 is the XFX one and it is dual slot and is just as big as a GTS 250 the GTS 250 and 4850 are almost identical in performance. I have been upgradeing OEM computer for a while now and I never came across a motherboard that would not fit a graphics card.

There are pics of my rig on my profile if you wont to see it for your self.

You didn't specify it was XFX originally. Be that as it may without measuring the height of the south bridge HS, as you said, there is no way to tell for sure. It may very well fit but I can't tell that from the pictures he posted.

I'm sure you also noticed the MB mounted left handed instead of right handed with the slots on the top instead of the bottom in that shot. Given that there would possibly be interference from the drive bays, even if the PSU would have fit in that case, space and wire management would be a major issue.

Yes, if the HS is no higher than the slot in front of it then there won't be a problem in another case that the PSU will fit in. The pictures posted and the ones from HP are deceptive and don't show the actual height of the HS in reference to anything else.

Thus my hesitation in saying to the man, yes it will work. :D

The hight of the heatsink is not going to be the problem neither is the motherboard being mounted left handed. From the picture it looks like the GPU is going to hit the ram slots but that cant be since he already has a graphics card in there. If we could get him to take some better pics of his computer without all the cables in the way. We would be able to decide weather it would work or not.

Ill take a picture of that later on today.

ANd yea now that I think if it I don't think I was having a problem with it hitting the heat sink it was mainly the wires I believe.

That will help us a lot just make sure to try and move some those cables out of the way. Unplug them if you have to.

Thats the same thing I was thinking from looking at your picture there is just not enough room for all those cables. I am almost sure you could put a dual slot card in there and you would be fine. Although the placement of the RAM slots is the only thing that was me concerned. I can see you current card isn't that long and it doesn't hit the slots but a new card is going to be triple the width and about 3inches longer.

Ok so these were the best pictures I can get. I really tried not to take out all of the connections and just move them out of the way because some are hard to take off like the mother board main plug.

I think you will be fine I don't see anything stopping you from getting dual slot card. At first I thought the RAM slots where going to be a problem but now I relize that the extra width of the card is going to be on the other side where the fan is not the back side. The card should clear your southbridge heatsink no problem there is a reason they make them so thin.

I say your good to go I'm sure somebody will have something to add but I say your all set.

Just for my edification measure the height of the HS on the south bridge. If it is the same or less than the height of the slot ahead of it then that concern is done and the card will clear the HS. The last few HP boards I have worked on seem to have a fairly robust HS, which was my main concern. Looks like it is going to be tight next to the memory slots so make sure you put the new card in after you have all the memory dealt with.

For good airflow I would move that little card in the third slot over to the fourth when you re-case.

Wire management is going to be tight even in a new case so plan it out to get a neat installation.

From seeing how stuff goes to the board from the pictures, once you re-case it should be okay.

Ok so I tried again and the graphics card only obstruction is the back it is not really big enough..I could go with a new case but now I am double thinking that since it is a new computer and all..So is there any card that is smaller then the GTS 250 but does just as good maybe? anyone?

Yes but the new casing still has that front wires issue
Also I hope someone can reply on a good Vid card to get that will suit that "HP" :)

Yep I have been told about that front wiring issue and dont want to risk that. So I would just like to see if anyone has a decent graphics card :]
