Hey I am looking at possibly purchasing a computer here was wondering if you guys had any input on my new build. I am currently looking at purchasing a custom computer or an alienware laptop with sli, I know alienware is overpriced and generally crap but i like the look and for 600 with sli isnt too bad.

2x 80 gb hard drives in raid 0
2 gb ram
dual nvidia 7600gs 512mb in sli

I would like to have it equal to 600-620max with shipping, I would like it with an lcd screen, if not thats fine I can get one later if it means a better computer. I DO NOT NEED AN OS,

This isn't gaming computer at all. GT 220 won't get you anywhere, it's like having 9500GT. The E5200 is allright, I still have it, OC to 3GHz is easier than breathing. The RAM is OK as well actually, but 2GB will not be enough for future gaming. The motherboard is preety decent as well, it's P45, PCI 2.0.

Oh okay thanks for the heads up I had no idea, any recommendations you could make. I was thinking possibly along the lines of a 9800gtx, ill see if i can find my other list. I just saw the gt220, I fing hate when they overprice cards then slap on the fancy name and it sucks for gaming.

GT250 is more like it. Motherboard looks good too, I've got a P5Q SE myself and some of the BIOS features are real nice.

RAM, 4GB should be enough if your using XP or 7.

Are you sure an 80GB Harddrive is enough? 6 to 8 games and that will be full. Harddrives are cheap, it won't cost you much more to get a 500GB HDD.

Nice processor, always been a fan of the E5200.

400W PSU :/ I know it's from Corsair, but perhaps it's cutting it a bit fine. I'd go for a 500/550 personally.

Yeah I hardly ever use any space on my hard drive, just keep a couple games on there and it was a good way to save money for me. I was thinking about upgrading the psu to a ocz at 600watts, I cant really go over the 600 mark too much so cutting corners a bit and I know the psu is not a place to do that.

I am a fan of windows xp, Also working around a tight budget happened to leave me with that as one of my choices. I would possibly go for an amd dual, triple, quad core if it were in the budget i just don't think I could. I really like the gts250 and dont want to take that out there.

If you can do get the OCZ 600W, they are well priced and pretty reliable with good warranty and customer service.

XP is fine, you can always upgrade to 7 later, $30 if your a student!

Ah thanks for the heads up, never knew being a student had an advantage till now lol. I am just wondering compared to windows vista, how is windows 7 ive yet to use it just the amount of times my vista has had an "error report" makes me want to destroy the machine.
