erm, if it doesn't have the clicks of death or run into problems then its fine.
BTW, Seagate is one of the BEST brands in the world. The majority of the people use Seagate Hard Drives. Some do use WD (which is now owned by seagate).

WD is owned by Seagate? Seagate recently merged with Maxtor, I think that is who you are thinking of.
You are right though, Seagate is not a bad brand. People have had problems with them, but that can be said of any company, especially in the computer electronics area.

Western Digital has had the best rep for the longest time. But even with the best you can run smack into a defective drive at times. Seagate always had the edge over Maxtor! Those were the opidemy for the longest time. blah! Go by what you will find in the systems by SUN Microsystems for a good look at the best drives used for the most part.

I have a seagate 320 and it runs great! Maybe something else is going on?
When you get a good drive and perform the simple periodic maintainence it can last for a good number of years. While some old WDs are still sitting around in the basement(20mb-200mb drives) I did run smack into one Seagate that simply quit without making a sound some time back on an old Packard Bell. You know that was an older system there with a 1.2gb drive.

I saw that 750gb model when it first came out and was listed available. WD recently followed that with their 500gb sata drive. But I still couldn't see the average user needing a sata array with that large of drive for what photos, a few mp3s, and some video. With video capturing regular here the largest amount of space taken for video files was 187gb which saw the 250gb slow right up. A pair of 500gb sata drives would still offer more room then would ever be needed.
