i just signed up for the "basic" package for at&t internet service. it advertised speeds at "Downstream Speed: Up to 768 Kbps
Upstream Speed: Up to 384 Kbps"
after signing on for the first time, i saw (through the modem's page) that i was connected at 224kbps downstream and 128kbps upstream. will the speeds stay this way or will it get increased to the speed i payed for?
it says on the modem to leave it on constantly for 10 straight days to "maximize speed". will i get what i payed for after these 10 days?
im using wired, directly from modem to computer. no routers or anything
edit: my speedtest.net results
download: 147kb/s (bits, not bytes)
upload: 107kb/s (bits, not bytes, otherwise i wouldnt complain)
certainly not close to the advertised speed...
EDIT2: PROBLEM SOLVED. my speed gradually increased to the speed i payed for!
