ok you can read my Motherboard thread about "onboard video" to checkout my situation....

Build:::
under 300
Mobo, GPU, PROCESSOR

300 is not hardly enough for anything... are you looking for an entirely new build, or can you salvage from your old PC?

umm yea except that i dont know how to really, and this is my first build... and yea gaming. a pentium D is Dual core right??? and will these and 1 g of ram get me BF2 on max???

AMD X2 3800+ $100
Sapphire X1950Pro $145 after MIR
Abit KN9S $60 after MIR
Total: $305. If you want to stay under the $300 (or have a PSU that would be questionable with an X1900), switch the GPU to an eVGA 7900GS ($135).

At this pricerange I feel you get a little more out of the AMD X2 than a Pentium D, particularly if it's for gaming. The combo you proposed is another good one. I'd be inclined to spend a little more on the GPU and downgrade the CPU to a 3800+ for the sake of balance, though.

Apevia PSUs aren't very good, I'd avoid that included one. The official recommendation for an X1950Pro is at least 450W with at least +12V@30A. The recommendation for a 7900GS is a far more lenient 400W with +12V@20A.
