[*]Looking to order components for first build. To be used for general app usage, audio server, some video viewing & backup, potential usage as a remote DVR. Because I am a newbie to building I am especially curious about if I have over-spec'ed this (I reviewd a couple of other Desktop forums threads for most of the components listed below) for the usage I intend. Also want to know about the miscellaneous things that need to be ordered or just have on hand to make the build-out better (cables, connectors, etc.).
- Processor: Intel I5-3570K

- Power: Corsair Carbide series 400R
- Newegg Case + PSU price = $159.98 - $40 in rebate cards

- OS: MS Windows Home Premium 64 Bit – Newegg $99.99

- Need recommendations on:
- - Optical BD-R/BD-RE/DVD/CD combo drive
- - TV Tuner card
Will add other storage and 2nd optical later. Because I don't do games, don't know if I need a Video Card or not (heard relatively good things about the on-board Intel 4000 video), or if other components are scaled too high. I do tend to keep machines for a long time. Current machine is HP Workstation xw4100 (P4-3 Ghz w/ 1 GB of RAM, 2 DVD +/- R/W and 3.5 TB of storage) so anything is likely to be at least an order of magnitude faster and better.
