you must also look at the fact that im not restricted to money or a restricted build, i am building a machine that wont be too far old in 2 years to be updated

Well... 16gb would be badass..... Lol. If you got the money go for it bro! Personally I would use the money saved from half the amount of ram and put it into the GPU and get Nvidia =p

Honestly though dude.. That rig will lose tons of value in 6 months. Technology sucks to buy when it first comes out. I would suggest you buy components that have been out for a while and have awesome reviews. $3000 is nuts! you got some money man, put half in the savings account and build a $1500 rig. Mine was $1200 and it rocks everything i throw at it

i chose the MSI for a reason, it has the most effective memory clock that maximizes my mobo's 5.2 gps capabilty, also it has a 2 gb cache, on all 3 of them, each with a 2 frozr fans, so its going to be cool, also going down to 8 gigs would only save me roughly 170 dollers, or about 60 dollers per video card, so nothing major, not even enough to move up to a 6970 series

Very true, I got burned buying a high end rig before so im just wary of how fast they lose value, ide hate to see you spend 3g's and wanna sell it next year for $1000 or less!! Other than that its a sick build, it will definitely process some digits bro

ya if u check the links all the items have amazing reviews, the only thing that was bad on any of them was from people running their fans at 100% for too long and messing them up in their video cards. you should check out the links i posted, im also surprised no one posted a reply to my post on that guys AMD build

I checked them out, they do have good reviews. too bad people write bad ones because they are ignorant.... Sick rig man. Let me know how that beast runs!

Dude! For gaming LGA1155 is a must, performance is far superior to anything AMD have at the moment. Asus Sabertooth 1155 + i5-2500K would be a better choice.

Yeah, as above Vertex 3 for SSD
;)

@OP
You haven't ordered yet Have you?
If not then I have some suggestions.

First for gaming your best choice will be the Intel Core i5-2500k.As fastdude already told you.
Then Windows 7 FTW.Why Vista??

Then As for Memory 16GB is OVERKILL and since it is a purely gaming rig you will never utilize it.Since most games are 32 bit and do not use more than 4 gigs of memory.
8GB of RAM will more than enough and 16 GB is mainly used in showing off in a gaming PC.
16GB will only be helpful if you run multiple instances of Virtual Box or VMware at the same time.

Then as for GPU, a multiple GPU should always be avoided
Since a multiple GPU config has Driver Issues
and Excessive Heat Production and Extreme Power Requirements.
Rather go with a single card HD6990 which will be way more than enough,to play any game maxxed out on any resoultion on any number of screens.
And on top of that you have chosen a crappy PSU to power such a beast of a rig.Never skimp on PSUs they are one of the most important parts of a computer.
If you take the advice given above then you would need something like these -

and if you DON'T

As for Heatsinks I would suggest these -
The Corsair H70 with some modifications would be really good.

i have no desire for an over priced intel processor, also i have a well enough fan+ heat sink for the proccessor i am getting, i am trying to show off, and the memory will be running in quad mode, and i will take advice on the power supply but what exactly is wrong with it?

The intel core i5 2500k Processor is priced at $225

For Gaming the core i5 2500k killls the hex-core from intel and amd both.
The AMD hex core is useful if you will be runnng applications which require multiple cores.
Rosewill makes crappy PSUs.And the PSU I listed are pretty much the best PSU brands you get.

And as for HSF

The RAM as I told you and everybody else on this forum would till you is completely useless.8GB of RAM would suffice.

What about GPU are you still going to keep the tri-fire ore going to change it to a decent and one of the best gpu out there ie the HD 6990 or you can also go with the GTX 590.

Then you would need a 750W PSU.

Remember you would need a P67 motherboard for the i7 2600k.
