Ok so these are all pretty noobish questions but im new in this general area of computer knowledge and I want to learn so here are my questions.
1.What are the benefits to upgrading to better motherboard
2.What are the benefits to upgrading your cpu
3. what are the benefits of upgrading your RAM

my other questions are a little more specific to my computer. I got this as a graduation present and i really like it but i also want to make it awesome and better for gaming and generally all around. this a link to where you can find all the info on my comp.

You don't need 16gb of memory, for most users 8gb is still overkill. Basically all you need to do is get a better power supply, video card and put it in your HP and you got it. With all the parts you have listed, if you buy a new motherboard, cpu, and stuff you will need a new copy of windows 7 as the copy on the HP can't be transferred. And you won't be able to play many games decently with the video card you picked.

i thought that your operating system was on your hard drive? so changing out my mobo would make me need to get win 7 again? could you recommend a good psu and vid card for the purposes i mentioned.

The operating system is on your hard drive. However, when you would go to bootup, it would either blue screen or would boot loop on you because of you switching out motherboards. And with you having an OEM license from HP, you can't transfer the license to a new motherboard.

Well, let me ask you this. What types of games do you plan on playing? You will want a card that can run the games decently.

well i want to be able to play games like diablo 3 and skyrim those are teh two main ones but i might run it for 1st person shooters like call of duty as well. i also like using my computer to watch movies so there is that to put into the mix

well im getting the nzxt m59 case from a trade from a friend and it was the fact that im switching cases that has sparked my interest in upgrading my entire pc. so i belive that card will fit in my new case.

Below is a listing of CPU questions and answers to those questions. These questions have been sorted by the number of times they have been asked or searched for.

Can I upgrade my computer processor?

Because of the variety of computer motherboards / specifications / OEM modifications, we do not specify to users if they are capable of upgrading to a higher processor.

Yeah, I would think you would have plenty of room in that case for the video card.

one more question i found this card its pretty much the same specifications as the one you recommended but what i want to know would this card hold up to future games or is it to the point to where it can hold up to the newest games for now but will need to be replaced soon?

The 6870 is a good card. Battlefield 3 actually recommends the 6950 but I play it on my 6870 just fine. If you like to play demanding games then you may want to think about getting the 6950 or 6970 or possibly wait until the 7000 series cards come out early next year.

i will most likely lean towards the 6870 just cause of the decent price. what kind of gtx or nvidia would be equivalent towards the radeon hd 6870?

im not really very knowledgeable on the comparisons either i just want something that will run right and i wont have to break bank getting it...

It really only depends on a few things.

1. Your budget
2. What games you would want to play decently
3. What power supply you have or going to use
