New Computer Won't Boot

My friend and I have been in the process of creating a new computer. All parts were ordered from Newegg and I'm having issues getting to a boot screen.

MB Asus Striker II Formula
VGA EVGA 9800GX2 RT
PSU Corsair - 750TX 750W RT
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 3GHz 6MB L2 Cashe, 1333 MHz FSB

When I first tried to power up the computer the LEDs would come on. When the power button was pushed nothing would happen. No fans or sounds. So we took everything out one by one removing the power cord each time until we finally removed the video card. Turns out one of the cords was connected incorrectly to the video card. So I plugged it in correctly and the fans actually started spinning. No picture on the monitor however.

I tried plugging the video card into all the PCI-E slots and tried putting the monitor into both connectors on the back of the VC. So wonderful I have a busted video card so I sent it back. I picked up another from Best Buy:

GeForce 8800 GT

Plugged this in and had the same problem. This time I checked and the fan is spinning on the video card. So did I send back a perfectly good video card with a busted Motherboard?

Thank you for reading and I thank you in advance for any response.

Just a thought, but what kind of memory are you running? And are you getting any error messages on the external lcd thing that comes with the striker II?

I would return the motherboard ASP to get your new one back, that is if your positive that your mobo is not posting. You sure you don't hear any beeps or anything like that?

does your motherboard have onboard memory, if so try that and at least get the OS installed.

It's probably some kind of backward compatibility issues with PCI-E, I've heard that installing a 8-series card on some PCI-E 1.0 boards resulted in the system in no picture and the fan spinning at full speed. Updating your BIOS should do the trick, if this is the case. If you do have a PCI-E 2.0 board, this is not the problem (too lazy to check whether your supports 2.0 :P).

External LCD says CPU INIT:

This is translated in the debug table as CPU Initiation.

RAM:

2Ghz Corsair DDR2.

I can't update anything - I have no picture to work with when I plug a monitor into it. The monitor light stays orange and appears as if it isn't connected.

Nope no sounds whatsoever from the computer.

UPDATE:

I did some research and found that the Asus 880i chipset has compatibility issues with core duo PSU and Corsair RAM.

I've read many things including that voltage differences across the RAM can cause issues and what not.

In conclusion I am going to mess with it for a few more days and just RMA the entire system and get the computer from elsewhere. Knowing my luck I would get it working just to find that the 30 day return policy expires next week and something else would go wrong.

Thank you for your attempt to help.

Sorry for the triple post.

SOLUTION:

I fixed my problem.

The Asus Striker II motherboard is defaulted to accept non-top-of-the-line RAM.

If you are experiencing trouble with the CPU INIT you must do a CMOS Reset and then use lower RAM. I used a 512 stick of DDR2 rather than my 2 1000 sticks. Access the BIOS and change the timing and other settings. REBOOT with the better RAM and your good to go.

Good Luck.

You dont necessarily have to return your motherboard. Ive had the same problem with my computer when I finished building it. It turned out that the powersupply was bad. Some problems that you might have are that your video card is screwing up your system.
