mobo: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe ATX AMD Motherboard
GPU: XFX Geforce 7900GT PV-T71G-UCE7 Video Card
PS: OCZ PowerStream OCZ520ADJSLI 520W Power Supply
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2000MHz HT Socket AM2 Processor

Ok, it looks good very good. But look at this.

This drop in prices will allow you to go with these hdds. Personally I do not think the raptors are worth it. You might be able to go with one of these, but the space is kinda of small (Even though plenty for me, depends on what you are doing).

But otherwise it looks very nice, and you might just want to go with that set-up. If you do decide to wait for price drops which I do recommend, then you could upgrade to like a am2 x24600 or x25000.

thanks alot for responding to this thread. i appreciate it.
i don't think im patient enough to wait that long, although i might because i don't know when my dad will give in to letting me use his credit card. he insists that if i clean out my hard drive it will go real fast. its a pentium 4 1.7 ghz p.o.s. with 256mb of ram and a 64mb video card. i can't even play games on it. i really want a new computer and i have the money but you know how ignorant parents are. so who knows. im pretty impacient so i don't know if i can wait until then but if im forced to wait that long anyways ill probably go with the better stuff. I was planning on putting the drives in RAID 0 so i don't know how much faster that will be. which would u suggest if i wait until the price drops: better cpu or better hdd's?

I would probably go with what you have as goes with the hdds. As in waiting get better cpu. I would actually wait. As for you dad yes cleaning would help it go a little faster if you like defragmented some. But you won't notice an increase in performance becuase it it probably an old hdd like mine anyways.

this thing is pretty old and i REALLY want to play some of the newer games and this computer just doesn't cut it

Just be patient. Wait until Jules 24th. It'll save you money and performance ;)

idea:since i will be spending around 350 on a cpu, do you think it would be best to get one of the new conroe's in that pricerange or a x2 4600/4800?

Why don't you use the edit button?? You don't have to bump that much....
Wait until July to get the X2 5000+ which will be by far superior to the 4200+ or 3800+

Help!

I am just starting to get a computer [from www.ibuypower.com] and I was wondering I chose everything that it offers (well to what I can afford) and I was wondering if you computer geniuses out there help me if everything I chose is good? Also wondering if you could tell me that all the components that I chose will go together...because my brother who is smarter than me said to do research and I have but I guess asking of forums is good also.
