new desktop pc

Hello,

I'd like to buy components for a desktop pc. The pc should be extremely quiet and fast for office work. Further, it should be possible to play games on it (no high end though).

I thought about the following components:

PSU: NesteQ NA 4501
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q3 DELUXE-WIFI
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Ram: OCZ Memory 2x 1GB KIT PC3-10666 Gold Edition
HD (raid): 2 x Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 320GB
Graphic: Sapphire Radeon HD3850 Silent

Will these components work well together? Are they likely to meet my requirements?

Thanks for any suggestions or comments

what games in particular?

you may want to go for 3gb of ram, if you are running vista.

also deskstars have a bad reputation

games like battle for middle earth 2 and diablo 3 (once released)

i'm planning to stay with xp, so 2gb should be ok, it think

if deskstars have a bad reputation, ill look for an alternative

yeah deskstars used to have a bad reputation last time i used them (used to be called deathstars lol)

2gb on xp should be fine

i would go a X38 MOBO.
Q6700 CPU
DDR2 ram800MHz with good timings
an with the left over money mabey consider a 3870
an Western digital is my choice of HDD.
after all these changes it will be a faster computer for your needs, an cheaper

Thanks everybody for your help!

I think I'm going with this:

PSU: NesteQ NA 4501
Mobo: Asus P5Q Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Ram: Kingston ValueRAM, 2x2GB Kit, DDR2-800, CL5
HDD: (2x) Seagate Barracuda 7200.11, 7200rpm, 32MB, 500GB, SATA-II
Graphic: Sapphire Radeon HD3850 Silent

The reason why I chose Asus and not Gigabyte is the E-Gate.

The thing I'm not sure about is if I should go for a quad core. But I'm afraid that it needs much more power and therefore a stronger (and louder) fan. Or am I wrong?

If there is anything I forgot to think about please tell me. Thanks.

For the OP - what is your budget on this??

Budget is around $1400. With this components

PSU: NesteQ NA 4501
Mobo: Asus P5Q Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Ram: Kingston ValueRAM, 2x2GB Kit, DDR2-800, CL5
HDD: (2x) Seagate Barracuda 7200.11, 7200rpm, 32MB, 500GB, SATA-II
Graphic: Sapphire Radeon HD3850 Silent

it'd cost me about $1000 plus the cost for the tower, dvd ect. So in total around $1300.

By the way, would a "Cooler Master GeminII 6-Pipe" be enough to cool this CPU?

With that budget, you can get a good system..... and not sure about the cooling.
