Thanks but I only need an X1900GT right now because I'm going to buy a DX10 card in a few months. I also want the case to be a Stacker 830.

A sound card I don't need because I already have a very good one from my old computer.

Question: Is the memory you brought better then the one in my initial RIG?

About the PSU I would like something stronger.

In my opinion, yes, the memory I selected is better. I think that it will overclock much better. By the time you change the video card, and cut the sound card, you can change the case to the Cooler Master Stacker. Also, you don't need anything stronger PSU wise, trust me.

If you're considering RAID with that board, you have two choices. 0 or 1. You said you weren't considering RAID 0. So what are you left with? And how many ways are there to install two HDDs in a RAID 1 configuration? One? Yes. Exactly.

Please read my first message again. I wrote DX10 in the title because I wanted people to understand that I don't need a strong Video Card right now because I'll buy a DX10 card in a few months.

So that's why you put "DX10 computer"? That's what I was questioning. Because "computer" has nothing to do with DX10 and I couldn't figure out for the life of me where you were getting at.

Well I'm going to do a very strong OC and I heard the new DX10 cards might take anywhere between 150W to 200W and more. I also have some bad experiences with PSUs so I prefer to pay a little extra when it comes to that.

I am also interested in hearing why do you think the XMS2 is better then the G.Skill I took.

And I read about all this... They won't be out that soon and when they will probably be super expensive. And actually there's no actual guarantee that they'll be better then the Dual Cores for games. I saw a Q6700 vs. X6800 and there was barely a difference. They even said that they expect the X6800 to slightly lead in next gen games.

I would say that the Corsair XMS2 and the G.Skill you picked are about the same as far as performance, though the G.Skill memory has received some amazing reviews by many companies.

The Core 2 Quadros probably won't be too expensive...

The reason the E6700 and the X6800 are so close in performance yet so far apart in price is this: The X6800 has unlocked multipliers, which allows for very good overclocking.

I think either Q4 of 06 or Q1 of 07, gives you time to save up

If you wait for Kentsfield, you can also get a DirectX 10 card, the nVidia GeForce 8800 is scheduled to be released mid-next month.

Ah, I didn't catch that. The Q6700 will be better for multitasking, and a little behind for gaming, until they start making quad core compatible games
