hey!

my friend gave me his rainbow six vegas today, and it required shader 3.0 support. my x800xl does not have shader 3.0 support but it is better than a lot of the graphic cards with 3.0 support.

can you guys help me find a graphics card w/ shader 3.0 support that is around ~$100 Canadian on

www.memoryexpress.com

it is the cheapest place where i live..

hey, i have chosen 3 graphic cards.. i have gone over my budget (but good thing there are parents:D)

the only dfiference between these two are the memory...

ORRRR

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX18203(ME).aspx

so i have a few questions:

a) is the manufactorer (sapphire) good?
b) is the 512mb needed? like is it worth the money? or improve gaming experience?
c) which card is better or are there better cards in the range.

THANKS A BUNCH

I have used and sold quite a few Sapphire cards. In fact, I have two for sale right now, although I believe the X1600 Pro is spoken for. They've been good to me, except the other day one of my X1950 Pros just died, prompting me to buy a new card. It was only 5 months old. The other one is for sale, unless I pair it up with a third 1950 I have in my other box for Crossfire. Hard to say.

sorry bud, i think u read my post wrong:P
i said 8600GT was OUT OF THE QUESTION:D

should i choose 256MB for HD3850 or 512MB for HD3850

512MB is better.
3850 with 256 ram is gonna perform poorly especialy in high resolution just like 256 ram version 88GT.

Well, depends on your budget. If you can't get the HD3870, you can overclock the HD3850 512MB close to HD3870 speeds I think. ;)

But I'd say either one of the HD3800 series is a great buy. I don't think the HD3850 would do poorly on high resolution games.

He's just wondering which 3850 he deserves to buy.

Well for the extra $20-30 I would get the 512MB version. Is not a bad deal since the rest of the better 512MB cards such as the HD3870, 8800GT and 8800GTS are about $60 away from that.

256mb of VRAM won't hurt the Hd 3850 as much as it did the 8800gt, but it still will hurt performance, especially in the newer games, those that are out, and those that have yet to be released.

$218 CAD 512mb 3850, if it's in your budget. If you just can't afford it, the 256mb isn't a bad choice, just a slightly bottlenecked card.
