Is overclocking the fsb a good thing?
And the chip is the G0 stepping which if google is right is the better one.

Well I've never overclocked one myself as I've never overclocked a CPU which has an FSB (the newer ones do not have them, the C2Qs were the last) but usually when you overclock the FSB you're overclocking the RAM.mikeb2817 said:

It looks OK. One thing you could perhaps do is maybe tidy up those font panel I/O connectors (the cables hanging about underneath your graphics card). See if you can somehow route the cables so they go from the front of the case, behind the board, and then to a cable management hole underneath or nearby to where they need to be plugged into the motherboard. If you can do that, that should clear your look up a lot.
Rather than putting that thin wire through the top of the cable management holes at the top of the case, see if you can just tuck it behind the motherboard. The same for the wire in the top left corner (presumably a fan wire?), just tuck it behind the board a bit.
I'm thinking of writing a tech guide about cable management in the near future. I've already written one tech guide for this forum.

That grey cable actually goes into my cd drive. Not my I/O panel. I presume you mean the thing grey one.
Just found out the gray shitty cable is analogue audio. Which means its useless having it there :d Yipee. My GF is going to help me sort my case out at weekend when my parts come. SO with a womans loving touch hopefully my case will look awesome

No I didn't mean the IDE cable, I meant the other front audio/front USB/power and reset button cables. There's not a lot you can do about the IDE cable I'm afraid, I have the same problem in my C2Q rig. :/ You can buy rounded IDE cables such as this http://www.amazon.co.uk/90cm-ATA-13...96NY/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1339443049&sr=8-9 and they do look a lot neater but I wouldn't say it's really worth it.

The gray cable that goes underneath the gpu is an obselete analogue cable from the dvd drive to the onboard sound. Its basically for when optical drives were used to get audio from. Think anything from xp onwards doesnt need them. Thats what i gathered anyway from google

EDIT: And no shes absolutly despises them. Mine more than any. But as shes an awesome cleaner (que the cliche) she'll be getting some hands on time with my bit on the side (my p182).

Yeah remove that optical drive audio cable and throw it away! Haven't seen one of those in years! You don't need that anymore, you didn't even need it when your PC was built.
But yeah, see if you can do anything about those black front panel connectors. If you don't need one of two of the cables, just tie them up and put them behind the motherboard tray or somewhere.

Will do, my gear was dispatched today so fingers crossed ill have it in the next couple of days Then awesome piks will ensure. Unfortunately the dust bunnies will still be present as im uber broke which means i cant afford new compressed air

So iv installed it, iv got it all running but.....
I dont see a massive difference in frame rates :/ Even in cpu intensive games like gta iv and arma 2
Quite dissapointed really. Think i expected too much ;P

I will now By the way my temps are 28'c (highest on first core) right down to like 21'c on one of the other cores, is that ok for oc'ing?

I was using hwmonitor for them temps. Iv just downloaded core temp and its telling me that my temps are actually 42'c :/ which one is right?
Have a look in the BIOS and see what it says there Mike. I'd actually download Real Temp and give that a go, that's what I use and it's a nice little application and pretty accurate too as it reads temperatures from the BIOS.

Is that at idle? My 2500K runs about the same temps as your Q6600 at idle. It's the temps at full load which matter the most when overclocking. 40C at idle is perfectly safe, but you don't want to really be going over 75C at full load.
Overclock it anyway and see what temperatures you get. Try 3.0GHz and then see what temps you get at idle and then what temps when gaming or running Prime95 or Intel Burn Test or something. If you don't like the temps, just remove the overclock.
