but what system can last for more then two years without falling behind on all new games and not having to turn down things with?

bah, not turning this into a king nothing flame war...

with a Cure 2 quadro extreme with the newer 1333MHz FSB and all and dual R600's, i'll be able to snag a WR, thats something I wanted to do for awhile

First, unless you plan to spend around $5000 on this computer, you can afford a Core 2 Quad Extreme and 2x R600's, there going to be insanely expensive for just one.

Second, you should know that you never keep a computer for more then a month, and you'll end up selling the new PC to buy pretty pink neons for your miata, and then say your in debt and sell everything, then go back to you're 6800GS.

And thirdly, in two years a $800 computer will smack your $5000 rig with ease.

I sold my miata, like I said (And I had a blue neon underglow kit, not pink). And i'm putting 4k into the rig. don't doubt me.

This is exactly the reason why I don't spend a lot on my stuff, every year technology doubles or somewhat close to it, so you spend $5000 now, next year something ~$2000 will spank the $5000 system you have. This is why I upgrade part by part, not a new system every so often.

Wait till you have to pay rent, car insurance, electric, water, phone bills, etc. You couldn't afford the spending habits you have now. :P

Oh, and I'm still not jealous :)

dude, I wont have to pay anything for 4 years... I think i can spend what I want for the next 2 years, then save up for 2 years

cause i'll spend $4k now and then two years from now i'll spend another 3k and get the latest CPU and GPU

its not like I only have 4k to spend...

If anyone needs an updated comp it's me, but honestly what comps I have suit me wonderfully. I don't play a lot of games and what games I do play it doesn't matter if the res is high or not. Seems foolish to spend an insane amount on a comp for bragging rights and high resolution on games, but if you have the money then do what please you.

Cant wait to see what it actually is when the time comes and how different it is from what you wanted now.

uhm... unless something remarkable happens, i'm looking at Crossfire R600s or SLI 8900GTXs... basically the latest and greatest of the time... in about 3 months I cant think of something better coming out at the time

Pipe Dreams

I for one would like to see some posted benchmarks when you get it. I'd be very impressed. Until then good luck with your ever changing build ;) Because without a posted benchmark screenshot it's all just a dream :D

I will be posting benchmarks when I get it running, first thing on it will be 3DMark06

Lol

I'm curious as to what monitor you will be using. Something with INSANE resolution I hope other wise you really are wasting money. Like um. 25xx X 20xx I'd hope. True HD gaming.

Also whatever happened to all the stuff you RMA'd? Refund? I can't imagine not hanging onto an 8800GTX that'd be too tempting.

i returned the stuff because of black Friday, I needed money for laptops, they didn't have them so I got to keep the money, spent about $400 on Christmas stuff and am looking to purchase a new computer...

I have already stated about how I don't want this to turn into a flame war about me being a King nothing.

Mods, please close this thread as I feel some personal attacks coming soon.

Monitors.

I'd have to say the Dell 30" would be the sweetest monitor for that rig. Do you know of any others that support 2560x1600. But it's fairly pricy at $1500 new IMHO. I'm pretty impressed with my 37" @ 1680x1050. Although I like it better at 1920x1080. It really just depends on your space contraints I guess.
