New RAM; Computer won't start

Hey, guys! So I'm new here and purely joined to see if anyone could help me trouble shoot my problem. I'll post all my specs, and then the RAM that I bought off newegg. I tried to get the most standard RAM I could get....but when I put it in, my computer just sat there. It didn't do any sort of beeping. Just sat there and I didn't hear my motherboard do it's typical "beep" when it successfully starts up.

Anyway, here are my specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 945
Mainboard: AsusTek M4N68T-M
Memory: DDR3 4gigs
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 560
Audio: Doesn't matter
Power Supply: 450 Watts
HDD: 1 Terabyte

---

The RAM that I put into these specs is as follows:

---

If you need additional information, please let me know. I'd like to know if I should return this or if I'm just doing something wrong? I made sure the ram was nicely seated into the slot...several times. I don't know why it would do this. Put my old RAM back in and it worked like a charm.

Any information at all is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The memory seems pretty standard, what bios version do you have ? as i notice one of the bios updates for your board refers to memory stability.

I can't find any compatibility issues with the RAM and motherboard. Resetting the CMOS resets all your BIOS settings to their defaults. If resetting the CMOS doesn't solve your problem try going into the BIOS and incrementally lowering the RAM clock speed from it's default setting and then restarting each time to see if your PC boots.

Your bios is very out of date, 0209 is the very first original bios for that board.

Your board has an unusually high number of bios updates, the bios update that refers to helping memory stability is 0605.

However this is also an old bios, you should update your bios to the newest version which is 1301

Here is a link to your motherboard support page http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4N68TM/#support_Download_30

Have you ever done a bios flash before ?

Never done a Bios flash, no. Could this update memory issue be whats causing my RAM to not work? Is it certain or just a possibility?

What should I know about Bios flashing before I continue? I'd like to know if there is any possibility that I could mess up my MB doing this?

Try removing and reinserting the memory first, maybe its not seated fully. But it does sound like you need a bios update. Read the motherboard manual on how to update the bios. You'll want to use ez flash utility in the bios.

I've had this MB for a long time and the manual is long gone. I'm worried I may turn my MB into a glorified, useless piece of metal by doing something wrong. Will make sure I know what I'm doing before I proceed.

Update: I dragged my computer out again today and put in the new RAM. I can confirm that the RAM was most certainly seated in there quite nicely. I'm kind of worried the heat sync metal is getting in the way of the little white locks on each side of the RAM. My old RAM doesn't have that problem, but I'm not really sure if thats the issue.

It did the same thing after I had tried multiple times. I seated it in there and it did nothing. So once the poster above goes into detail about how to flash my bios, I'll give updating my MB a shot. If that doesn't solve it, I'll just return it to Newegg. They've got a great return policy.

Thank you all for your help. Hopefully by updating my horribly out of date MB I can solve this issue. Heres hoping it works.

Alright, I'm back from trying both sticks one at a time. No luck.

Gah. I wish I knew for certain what the problem was.

Asus are one the easiest motherboards to flash.

1. Download the bios file 1301 http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4N68TM/#support_Download_30

2. extract the rom file from the zip folder.

3. put the rom file on a usb flash drive (only the rom file nothing else)

4. insert the drive into pc wait until drivers installed and it is shown in drives section.

5. reboot the pc and either enter the bios or there should be a key to go straight into EZflash

6. you should see an option worded like load bios from drive, select this, if you are in the correct drive you will see the bios file, it will have file name and rom file.

7. run the file and the bios will update itself, when finished the system will reboot and you are done.

Make sure your flash drive is formatted in fat and has a name so you can identify it.

Do not power off or do anything during the bios update.

When the pc reboots it may take a few seconds longer than normal.

Hope my steps are put simple enough to follow, you have the correct bios so other than a power cut or some other unlikely event you will be fine.

You can also look at these more detailed guides, but if they confuse you just follow my steps.

This video might help to actually see it being done.

Okay, so I did was what asked of me and I put the BIOS rom into a flash drive. I right clicked the flash and checked the format. It said Fat32...I don't know if I want Fat32 or exFAT, but they're both there.

The problem is, when I go into EZ I only get Boot and something else that definitely doesn't lead to the ROM file, which means for some reason its not recognizing it.

Any ideas?
