lol pcworld.
I've been using Avast for over 2 years without any problems. Now that I'm dual booting XP and Vista , I thought about trying AVG on my Vista partition and leave Avast on the XP partition. If it would not cause any problems I could possibly have two defenses.
I run AVG 7.5 the actual latest build since 7.1 is "old news" for sure like 2005 1/2-2006. AVG will go right on Vista like it will XP. Someone looked up a real old PC World article to see 7.1 at this time.
One thing most do not know about dual booting Vista with any older version is the loss of the system restore feature. That's one reason why Vista and XP were installed each as stand alone OSs here.

let me add some fuel to the fire, i hate AVG to death
reason 1: manual update don't work, tried and tested, sorry
reason 2: Our network has a Proxy server, and it always ask username/password,even if you've provided it, really a pain.
reason 3 : i just hate it
Avast :
Ive used Avast only once, overall its good but it's too complex, way too many options !!, better than AVG
Norton:
Never liked norton, but 2007 prooved me wrong, though i use NOD, i do secondary scans on drives using 2007, this version is not as resource hungry as 2006 and 2005, too bad you ppl don't see that
cheers - thats my personal opinion, you can debate it if you like
