well if you look at the prices the 680 is $499, so your not paying much more for it. If you are on a board that only has 2 PCIe x16 slots like I am, then with the 690 you could still SLI for 4 way SLI 680s if you wanted crazy power like that.

Really these cards are there for 1 x16 boards to run SLI, just like the 9800 gx2 or 5970 was. Just like all sli single cards are.

I don't remember where I read it but it said that 690 = 91% of 2X680.
Don't know only benchmarks will tell.
Would like see how 7990 vs. 690 turns out.

It falls short of the 680x2 because of clock speed. I am fairly sure that if it could withstand it, that OCd to 680 speeds it would 100% of GTX680x2.

7990 will be behind the 690. Its basic logic. 7990 will be 2x7970 underclocked. 680 trumps 7970, so 690 will trump 7990.

Oh yeah, forgot about that, if the situation is like that then AMD should not release the 7990, or get some strategy done, so that 7990 markets well.

Also, the main thing I am concerned about 690 about its cooling, I see many 590s failed because of the cooling problem.

again, logic here. You just can not put that much power on a single card. Dual chip cards are bound to fail quick because of heat, unless your pouring feet of LN2 or LH2 on it.

Just thought of a quick question!

I know that conventional with SLi you only have access to the first cards total VRAM.

Is this the same with dual core cards?

Or will users have access to the full 4GB of memory?
