Are the Nvidia 4xx series cards worth getting yet? I tried looking up performance videos and they don't seem THAT great.

Are they any better than ATI's 5850/5870?

I would love to know. Don't know a lot about nvidia anymore.

I have it it's fking SICK!! I run metro 2033 VERY HIGH in DX11 with the same fps i had with my 275's in sli in DX10 on high.

Just cause never goes below 60 fps maxed out, 4xAA 16xAF on 1080p with gpu-water simulation.

I run Heaven 2.0 with extreme tesselation on 1920x1080 with 38-50 fps average. (Intensity on 2.0 of 2.0! standard is 1!!)

Here is my idle temp 30 sec after 75 min's messing around in heaven 2.0 with max tesselation: (75%) fan speed

I never say any micro-stuttering and a driver is needed thought in older games and benches. Yet, this is one hella card! beated my 275's in sli with ease!

Edit: Card runs on air!.. i wan't water and try to hit 900 mhz, but the fan is doing a VERY nice job.

EDIT(x2) The fan makes less noise than the rest of my system on 75% speed, check my speccs below.

What is the 480 comparable to on the ATI side?

480 runs better than current ATi cards in heavy tesselation and have Physx, 3D, Ray-traycing etc etc. Totally worth it if you want to go beyond the normal gaming.

However, if you want many multiple monitors i suggest ati cards. I still need more time to explore this beast :P And i expect a very good driver soon ^^

This is mostly based on my opinion, and depends on your needs and budget.

Edit: i want to go beyond the regular, that's why i got this card. ATi doesn't offer anything expetional other than their multiple-monitor support.
 
Run some 3D mark 06 Ryeong on your rig :P...me wonna see :D

It should be even better when better drivers come out too :)

Just wondering,have you thought about using one of your old 275s as dedi Physx?

Or would that slow down the 480?

So, I think I'll sell my 5850 when the new 4xx cards come out so I can see what they've got. I miss Nvidia, like way back in the day with my 860 gts haha

I'm not sure if it works with 480. I'll try later when i've downloaded the hair and water demo :P. 3D mark, hmm.. sure, yet i saw mostly huge fps jumps in dx 10-11 games. I donno how it does in 3D mark and it really doesn't reflect real-time gaming. But, i'll do it just for you later :P

Wrong. Totally wrong. That's what the ignorant majority want you to believe.. Everything depends on your pirmary focus. I was looking for Physix, better tesselation card, 3D, Cuda, Ray tracing and more fps than my 275's in sli, PLUS less stuttering.

I have MUCH more fps now compared to my 275's in sli. I can run extreme tesselation with higher fps than 5970. and so on.. 5850 isnt good enough to max games i'm interested in, and games that is currently waiting to be released.

I run crysis Very high, 1920x1080, with almost 55-60 fps average WITHOUT any stuttering which makes this card feel smoother and 10x faster than my old setup. Why would i buy something boring and unoriginal like 5850 that everyone else can?..

Everything depends on the persons needs, never tell him to buy from ATi unless his primary focus is multi-monitoring etc.

I'll just sli one later and have the fastest system available. Especially in tesselation..

Erhm, i only consider the facts in front of me. I have it here, right in front of my very eyes. You fail at building consistent air flow within your pc, not my problem.

What if you're the ATi fanskid? you feel threatened by Nvidia that's your problem. You have a low-income and must take several part time jobs just to afford your electricity bill.
