Nvidia or ATI?

It turns out that i have a SLI motherboard and i jut got another Geforce 7800GTX 512 ram, and i desided to max out my memory too...
Now it runs F.E.A.R without any slag with everything set to MAX!!!
And so does every other game that i tried!!! :))))))))

what windows do u have, because as i hear that 32bit windows are just limited to 4GB not 8GB, and man how did u get 2x Geforce 7800GTX 512 mb, this cost atleast 1400$??, the most expensive card i ever bought in my life was my 6600, and it cost me just about 150

we'll.. Duh.

i would go far a 6600GT on AGP, its a nice card, and if your PSU is strong enough,. you wont have to upgrade grafics till you buy a whole new system :)

I don't know that much about computers but when i was about to put together the new one i did some research on the internet. And all i found about the motherboard was that it had to be good. They didn't say what it should have...so i just thought that buying a really expensive one should be "good". Later i found this forum...and here i found out about the SLI thing. You see i'm not just a reach kid who spend a lot of money on hardware that was too pricy. Before actually buying something i checked it's value on this website www.tweakers.net (it's in dutch though) Like what is it's cheapest price, how much did the price change over time...etc. And you see my motherboard turns out to be good...it has sli and all.

i know tweakers .net, because im dutch myself.
tough.. whats the meaning of having 8Gb of RAM in a pc when even FEAR maxed out only uses 1,5Gb? you cant tell me thats not a waste of money.
and, why replace a 3000+ when it already is capable of runnin a pc ,wich runs everything maxed out?

so, please,.. dont tell me you dont waste money on pc's -_-

I am running WindowsXP Professional Edition SP2 +latest updates. Without SP2 it can only support 2 gb. I think...
2x Geforce GTX 521 mb cost me exactly 1368 Euros. With the latest Exchange rate that would be 1603 US Dollars. I thought that it wouldn't be so smart of me to upgrade my old system because in half a year it wouldn't be that good again. And So i bought a computer that cost like hell but hopefully will be good enough to run everything that comes out at max for a Year or maybe even two...

It seems that there are more than one Geforce GTX with 512 ram. So here are the specs of the two that i have:
Name/brand: Point Of View GeForce 7800GTX
Chipset: nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX
Memory: 512 MB
Type of memory: GDDR3
GPU Speed: 580 MHz
Memory Speed: 1730 MHz
Interface: PCI Express x 16
RAMDAC: 2 x 400 MHz
TV-out: Yes
Video-in: Yes
DVI: 2 x
D-sub: No

kirilltch i don't think that WindowsXP SP2 supports 8GB, i think u must have windows xp X64 to support it

I am preaty sure that i have XP pro SP2, because when windows load i see Windows XP Professional Edition SP2, and dxdiag says the same thing too. At first it didn't work(the computer only saw one of the modules not all 4). I took it to a specail shop, they did something and now it works. I think some kind of a patch, probably you can get it from microsoft and do it yourself but it was a new computer and i didn't want to mess with it...

from what ive read the 7800gtx will be the better of the two. there is however, a new version of the 7800gtx with 512 megs of ram which is clocked higher (i dont know if its gonna be rebranded and a 7800 ultra though).
if you do decide to go with either of these cards you'll need to make sure you have a strong psu

Hey you said that if he gets the 7800gtx he will need to check for a strong psu. can you tell me how strong should he get it cause i was thinkin about that video card. and do you have to get the same psu for all 512mb or can i use it for 256mb card?

ive not heard that it requires more power but it wouldn't surprise me. i would be happy running on anything less than a 500watt psu

I have 2x Geforce GTX 512mb and i have Enermax Noisetaker 600 ATX. So you know for sure that such a PSU can handle 1 Geforce GTX 256mb. Although it isn't theb cheepest PSU out there.
