Beryl is OLD... Compiz is what most people are using now. Just go to "System>Administration>Hardware Drivers" to enable the driver for your 8800 GTS. Then (if the effects don't work yet) go to "System>Preferences>Appearance." Then go to the "Visual Effects" tab and select "Extra" (you can select normal if you like, but it's not as good.) If you don't like the default settings you can configure them by running (in a terminal)

Then close out of the terminal and go to "System>Preferences>CompizConfig Settings Manager. ;)

Thanks Irish. I was hoping you would reply, because you were one of the kids I was referring to. :P

I'm going to boot into Ubuntu right now and follow your instructions. :)

Right, so I got the drivers installed and Compiz is running, so now I gotta customize everything, is that correct? There are a lot of options....

Running Ubuntu and Fedora10 on VMWare for the moment while I decide what build I'm going to put together from scratch. Then I'll probably dual boot vista and ubuntu (I've been liking it more than Fedora). I'm getting into Linux because I'm to begin working on my Bachelors in Computer Security (which is fitting over my Networking Software Degree..hopefully) and everyone says I should learn Linux. Not sure why...Why is it so popular?

Basically Linux is open source, so its free, (both as in no-cost and freedom to distribute). Also, as its open source, you can customize the whole thing as much as you like.

Also, seeing as you're doing computer security, I'll tell you that Linux has very few viruses written for it, and as it's open source, its much easier to ensure absolute security, as the source is not hidden, so there can be no accidental or deliberate back-doors or security holes in the software. That's why the NSA and British MI6 use Linux.:)

Also, I personally suggest you use Linux Mint, its easiest to use and is based on Ubuntu, though still has all the advanced features of it's parent.

Well, the real reason it's so secure is that it's based off of UNIX. :)
