One more question about DDR3

I tend to doubt that you would see the best results on all AM2 models Gigabyte makes. The AM2+ boards see a design change not simply a bios revision that will extend a degree of support in order to see the new models run. For a new build with a Phenon in mind you would use an AM2+ type board for the best results.

I guess you got that info from post 13 and post 16 because on post 15 you seem to not know that it could. Up untill today you have been calling it AM3 not AM2+ and then start talking about the differences after I had already explained the difference. And I was telling you days ago that a AM2+ boards was the way to go even if your buying a AM2 processor. It would be better if you just answered questions that you know something about instead of answering it wrong and coming back with some computer copy noob answer!

It would be better if you stayed on topic instead of trashng one thread after another. Note you have been reported!

The new Phenon 9500+ and 9600+ quad core models require an AM2+ board. You can look those over at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...50001028+1389627502+1302825342&name=Quad-Core

Oh give me a break. Phenoms do not reguire a AM2+ board as you say. You make a false statement and your corrected and you accuse them of going off topic when you made the statement. Its not off topic, Omega asked if they could run on a AM2 board and you said no and that is not correct. They will run on a AM2 board with a bios update but without the features of the AM2+ board. But they do not require a AM2+ board.

A bios revision allows one to run while that is still proramming not hardware support seen there. That simply makes the correct voltage and timings setting for you to meet what the new model require. The smart move is to always use a board that by design sees full support for the intended cpu to avoid problems.

Would you run a Core 2 on a Socket 478 board just because a bios revision allowed a degree of support despite pin differences there? For a Socket 775 model that doesn't lsit support for the newer line a revision would more likely work there first. Yet you would probably wait for a model that supported the Intel quad cored models to allow for upgrade of the cpu since that would be designed into the board itself.

You just never stop do you, keep giving a common knowledge statements in defence of a incorrect comment. Did anybody say it was better to get a AM2 board with a Phenom (NO). Of course its better to get a AM2+ with a Phenom. I think buying a AM2 board at this time even with a Athlon is a waste of money. But the statement you made that it requires it is not a correct comment (Period). You can ramble on all you want to from this point, I,m out of it!
