is there a big difference in Open GL 1.5 & Open GL 2.0 ... anyone wanna break that down to me... thanks alot!! :D

well i was lookin at GFx Cards, cuz im wanting to upgrade mine... and ive seen OpenGL 1.5 & OpenGL 2.0 ... is there a big difference in the performance?

Uh... when ur looking at graphics cards, the one that says OpenGL1.5 .... well it doesnt run OpenGL 2.0 extensions ... so the performance in OpenGL 2.0 mode ... sucks. :D What cards were you considering?

the 6600GT 128MB.. i might ugrade to Socket 939, and if i do, then itll be in PCI-E bus... but if i stick with the MoBo i got now, then ill be gettin it in AGP Bus obviously, lol.. the stats seemed to be nice, for $200+

Oooh thats kinda a tough call to be honest ... if its a X700Pro id prolly go with the 6600GT but if its the X700XT then id swing ATi unless SLI was an option ... but if you had the money for an SLI board, id reccomend you put that money for a X800XL or 6800GT :)

Well you could always grab that nForce4Ultra board by DFI :) (btw you do realize upgrading to PCIe would entail a new CPU right?)

yea.. lol.. i wanna be able to run Dual Channel and just all around more speed, MuaaHAHAHA!! :).. ill prolly try n go for the AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester or somethin..

LOL ... dual channel not alll that important as a well OCd S754 will [out]perform a whole bunch of S939 setups ... of course if you are adament on S939, go for it! :D (id reccomend you go AGP though via nForce3-250 and have the money for a X800XL or something which will outperform a X7000/6600GT setup)

but it costs more... and plus, the PCI-E will also be furture ready for when AGP goes out and PCI-E is the main thing, so i will be running a nice 6600GT till i can upgrade... :)

but it costs more...
Well if you just buy a X800XL (200USD) then you're done there, no need to buy new proc or mobo and vidcard (the 6600GT is roughly 200USD too i think and the X800XL will trump it :))

As for PCIe/AGP ... AGP should be around for some time still :)

well i looked at some x800 XL ... and the are $400+... cant afford that.. so imma stick with the 6600GT 128MB... it should do fine for its price.. but id still like to go for Socket 939, for higher end stuff, ya know.. hmmm
