Well, in that case...
Do you get an error message? Or does it just behave as if there's no disc in there?
Have you tried the DVD drive in another computer? Or another CD drive in the new computer? That simple test would tell us a lot.
Is the DVD drive brand new? In that case, likely DOA.
Have you tried unplugging every drive
except the DVD drive?
Also - you said you tried three discs - were they straight from the vendor, or were they burned? If they are burned, it's possible that the drive doesn't recognize the media, or that they weren't burned properly for whatever reason.
If the BIOS can see the DVD drive, and you've set it up to boot from that drive, then it seems to me it
must be a problem with the drive or the media...
But I've been wrong before... once... a looong time ago...
