Overclocking E6550

I have an Intel core 2 duo E6550 mounted on a MSI P6N Sli platinum mobo.
I am looking to over clock but am confused by the new option I have never seen on a board before. In my Bios I see the following option in Cell menu which is for overclocking and voltage controls.

D.O.T control Enable/disable?

Intel EIST Enable/Disable?

System Clock Linked/auto/manual?

FSB Clock 1333 (default)

Memory clock 800 (default)

Cpu Ratio 6 or 7 (7) default

What do all these controls mean and how should I go about over clocking?
I don't understand the complete relationship between the fsb, memory, and final outcome Ghz of the processor.

Final queston is there any programs to run in windows to overclock with my chipset?

P.S I have 6 case fans and stock cpu hsf.

For a new OC'er, I would recommend a program inside Windows. I used that, man I gained exp fast with OC'ing. See if MSI has something for that board...

^ I have never done that, but I've heard that overclocking from Windows is more dangerous than overclocking from the BIOS. I am pretty sre you need to set the FSB default to manual, and change, or do the same thing with system clock.

Yeah, but that's only if you use something crappy like ClockGen, EasyTune since it comes with the motherboard, I would assume that it's better.

I've been experimenting with Easytune today, and have got to say it's a wonderful tool.. it's missing a couple key options (LDT) but other than that, i've only ran into a problem once, and I can't say that it's easytunes fault.

This seems to be a very good overclocking-inside-windows app. :)

It got my E6850 to 3.74Ghz, I might want to pay respect to it:cool: I want someone to try and beat my CPUMark score..
