I am posting this here as the Over Clocking forum is closed, I was just wondering does over clocking damage your equipment after a while?

Not even proper measures are taken to reduce heat and limit voltage. If a person understand what they are doing as well.

it can, but if u overclock with good cooling and a good mobo, u should be fine. u also need to noe when to stp pushing it. read overclocking 101 for details.

Yes.. voltage and stability are the main cause of premature death. Don't push the voltage to far and test your stability with programs like prime95.

Edit: A constant overclock won't reduce life expectancy too much.. it might take a year or two off a 10 year lifespan.

It will be outdated before it explodes in a flaming fireball of death inadvertently triggering armageddon.
