pc build

4 cores, what will people think at 3.9 GHz? Its a lot to people who dont know kmow.
True, but I wouldn't overclock a CPU and sell it in a new system if I could avoid it. As I said earlier, the second you overclock, bam, you warranty's gone. That's fine if you're overclocking your own CPU and you don't plan on selling any time soon, but if you're selling a new system with an overclocked CPU to a customer, that could be an issue if they have any problems down the line and need to get the CPU RMA'ed (worse case scenario) and they can't because the warranty is void because you overclocked the CPU.

MOBO has built in gpu.
Integrated graphics are not for gaming.

I thought you said you were going to configure a system without a monitor and peripherals? Get rid of the monitor and mouse and keyboard, users have those already, and if they don't, they can buy them elsewhere, and then get rid off the FX-4100, replace it with an i3 2120 or an i5 and also get a decent graphics card - the 6870 is a great choice if you want value for money.

He said that build was a cheaper one, and not the $1100 one previously talked about. And the reason he's going with the AMD instead of the I3 or I5 is it is cheaper, and the 3.9Ghz is turbo mode, before being OC'd, so all warrenties are still there. And that's why he is using integrated gpu, to keep it cheap. Did you already order it? and when you do, post how it sells.

Eactly, penguin. For a cheap build, a mobo gpu is fine.I a going to make some cheap good build soon.Im going to make it flatout, with an intel cheap model, which has intel hd graphics, a mid model with an fx cpu and ????gpu, and a hi model, with an intel, and great descrete graphics.Give me a while, it might be until tomorrow till I grt it done.

OK,you could also get a CPU with built in graphics, maybe an APU, for the cheap build, or a super cheap radeon graphics card.

If you got rid of the monitor and peripherals which you are trying to sell with this, you can build a far superior system than the one you are trying to sell for $600 or however much it was. You could use an i3 and a discrete graphics card. You'd get more money for it too. There's a good reason why the FX-4100 is cheaper than an i3. People buying PCs on eBay often don't need a monitor and peripherals as I've said time and time again here it seems.

Just my thoughts.

SELL for $460
What do you think as an HTPC?

You need a some sort of graphics card really for an HTPC. Look into the likes of the GT 430/440 or perhaps a Radeon 66xx/67xx card. Get better branded RAM too, not too sure about Wintec, try Kingston. Other than that should be OK.

I'd still get a discrete card anyway, you'd probably see a difference - especially with Blu-Rays.

At the end of the day its your call though.

Sell for $420 Home Server
So, do you think i need any more watts, or a dvd drive?

Not really enough power for a home server, you need a much better CPU (an i3 2100 would do the trick probably) and more RAM for a server. We had 9GB of RAM (yeah weird number I know) in our home server and it was still slow, so we upgraded to 16GB and it's much better now. This build isn't really suited for a server if I'm honest.

However, this build would work pretty well as an HTPC if you threw in a decent graphics card and a DVD or Blu-Ray drive.

Yeah should be fine for watching video. May want something a little beefier (GT 430/440) but the 520 would be OK. :)

I bet you are not playing that game at 1080p. You're playing it on a 1080p monitor, but not at 1080p resolution. Go into the settings, turn the resolution up from whatever it is now to 1920x1080, and then see how it performs.

Yeah that 'home server' build will work well as an HTPC if you throw in the GT 520. Even a card such as your GT 240 would be good for something like that. It doesn't need to be a powerful card, just enough to watch video smoothly.
