Greetings,

Looking for an all round PC for gaming and watching TV for around 1K.
Currently have a piece of crap DELL Dimension 2400.

Any suggestions?

Yes, what are some good TV tuners? Can you buy a tuner that is as easy to use as an HDTV with HD quality? And can they pick up over the air?

I have an XFX NVTV, but it has issues, and I can't get it to work.

im pretty sure that most tv tuners must be wired, coax cable or HDMI (is that what those are called? idk)

Yes, I think mine is like that. I would really like an over the air tuner though, I just haven't seen any.

what about OS?
and also a tv tuner?

Use his origional OS... The one from the Dell?

As for the Tuner, I'll look into it... Downgrade the PSU...

*EDIT* - Changed. Gotta Rosewill PSU. The 8800 sucks around a 8600's power, so it should be fine.

The one from Dell will be OEM, meaning Dell-only. Unless he has a Retail version floating around, he'll need to purchase one. You're actually probably better off grabbing a Retail Upgrade version at Target sometimes and using the OEM CD when the system asks for a previous version to verify the upgrade is good.

I've tried a DELL OEM CD for fun on a old computer. Worked great!

As long as he doesn't dual use both of his computers... Ebay has Vista Basic Upgrade for around $50.
