PC World UK - Agh

Ok,

My grandparents old eMachines 150DVD had pretty much expired and we went into PC World in Warrington to get a new one. We actually managed to find a very nice E6400-based machine with 2GB of RAM, 300GB HDD and a Radeon 1300, which is more than what they needed for about £530, however the cheeky salesman tried to sell us a Pentium D system for more moolah!

These stores will try and find a system to suit your needs, or so they claim. This PC had been taken home and had the box opened, no more. He then continued to go on about how there may be a risk involved in buying it as opposed to buying a new one!

One thing that actually upset me was the fact he suggested that they some back when they're alone, as they don't know much about computers it was horrifying for such a big store to suggest something like this. I think it was prbably to do with the fact that I was able to combat him in just about everything.

Moral: Stay away from stores like PC World...

Unless your CPU fan broke, and you can't wait for one to arrive from a e-shop. I was amazed at how overpriced all the components were.

Yes Please Do!

Scenario - Me On Holiday...

My company buy a laptop from PC World...

Result... When I get back, Me = Unhappy Technical Manager

It was terribly overpriced and an awful machine anyway

You should hang around the PC World Service desk sometime and listen to the crap they tell customers.

I like to look around to see what they have but unless it's an emergency like I need a new HDD and can't wait to have it shipped from elsewhere then I don't buy from them.

Ive also heard bad things about Pc world....Especialy there after sales support.

PC World is the reason I want to set up an IT company, they tell you what you want, but you rarely get a say in what you want.

Note: I didn't buy the case & PSU from PC World, even though they do sell them...

Once my grandma and I took in her computer to get something fixed. When we got it back the modem was missing. The problem had nothing to do with the modem so they just took it out and never put it in. I never take my computers to places to be fixed. Too much room for error.
