Hi, I have just ordered a new desktop computer from ibuypower.com for around $1000 USD. It is a nice mid-range system with:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1 gig. Corsair RAM
ATI Radeon X700 256 mb. graphics
Foxconn PCI-E motherboard
Intergrated 5.1 channel surround
Cintre RW 5.1 surround speakers
Logitech cordless desktop LX 700 combo
NO MONITOR
Thermal Temp. LCD display
Professional wiring for all cables
16x DVD-ROM
16x DVD-R/+RW
420 watt power supply

So, has anybody ever heard of ibuypower?? I read about them in Computer Gaming World, and they were the cheapest around. Has anybody ever ordred from them??? Also, will my power supply be strong enough??? Please help me with these questions.....

I don't know about the website but it looks to me like your power supply is just fine. You shouldn't have any problems.

Ok good because I wasn't sure if would be able to power everything in there, I have a lot of bells and whistles on it like case lighting, the temp. display, and everything else.

Anyone heard of or bought from ibuypower??

Yeah, I've already looked at resellerratings.com, and I have seen many good reviews about them, but also many bad. However, the prices are too good to pass up so I had to give them a try, I just hope it works right out of th box.

Chances are pretty good it will... just that slim chance that if you ever need service you might get somewhat of a runaround. It's almost hard to buy a computer online from an inexpensive source and expect outstanding (or even good) customer service. Those two aspects don't seem to go together.

I've called ibuypower and spoken with more than one customer service rep. and each one answered my questions with informative and helpful answers, so lets hope that doesn't change.... ; )

From reading the reviews it's not the purchasing end where the problems lie, rather it's in the after purchase end, if and when problems occur. That doesn't guarantee you'll have a problem with service though... you may very well get great service.

read psu101. saying a 420 watt psu is good isnt neccessarily true, itdepends on the ampage on the 12V rail. Skidude, do you have a link for the PSU? other than that, its a pretty good system

yes, this one is really good, although idk what u did to get it to 1000, becuase i have configured a few of them and all of mine are in the 800 range.
Wait, nvm 10000 rpm drive.

dont think this helps but i've bought from cyberpowerinc.com and the comp came with a defective motherboard :(

Thanks everyone for the advice, but the power supply I am buying comes with the case, which is an NZXT Guardian. I did get a 10,000 RPM hard drive which made the price go up, and I bought a Logitech cordless desktop MX 700 keyboard/mouse combo, so that also raised the price (not to mention shipping costs $85!!!!!)..... I just hope it works right out of the box and keeps working.....

Power supplies that come boxed with cases usually aren't very good... try to do a check on that 12v rail and post it or give a link

It a pretty crappy PSU. you usually want a min of 18A on the 12v line and that pushing it.

This is the one I think I will buy:

POWMAX 400W LP6100D
Cost: $26.50
Rails: [email protected], [email protected], +12V@25A
Hold Time: 17ms
Cooling: 1x8mm
PFC: No
Mobo: 20pin
Comments: CAUTION

What does that "CAUTION" mean on the comments??? Also, what can go wrong if I stay with the PSU that comes with the case for a while????
