OK, I have a problem.
I've bought a new PSU, which I want to couple with an old one for power purposes. I was thinking of using the new PSU to supply power to the motherboard, my SSD drive and a bit of the GPU (6-pin), while using the old one to power fans, HDDs, CD-DVD drives and a bit of the GPU (8-pin).

My case, Cooler Master Stacker STC-T01, is made to house two PSUs, and comes with a dual power inverter:

However, here is the problem: the inverter uses 20-pin power, where my motherboard needs 24. My old psu has 20pin and plugs into it no problem, and I can plug the 24pin of the new PSU on the female end of the power inverter (with 4 pins unattached), and I can plug the power inverter into the motherboard, but 4 pins remain to be "filled".

My build is
Intel Core i5-750
Asus P7P55D-E EVO
OCZ SSD Vertex Turbo 30GB and existing 180 GB SATA HDD
Sapphire HD 4890 Vapor-X 2 GB
Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU cooler
Corsair Domintor DDR3 Ram

The new PSU is an Enermax MODU-82+ 525W and the old one is a 350W Enermax.

a) Is there a way I can use the dual power inverter and somehow fill the last 4 pins unattached on the motherboard (using the 12V 4 pin maybe) or do I have to buy a 24 pin dual power inverter (such as this?
b) If there is no way to use these two PSUs at the same time with that power inverter, would the 525W Enermax be enough to power the system on its own? It has the following specs:

Unfortunately you need the 24 pin adapter you listed. I do believe that PSU could power that system on its own, plenty of wattage and more than enough amperage.
 
Could anybody else confirm that the 525 watt psu is enough for this system?

I was thinking of OCing the cpu to 4 GHz, I guess that's not possible with this psu?
 
LOL no I'm running 2x 80mms and 4x 120mms
Also powering 1 dvd drive and 1 dvd/cd burner

So you think the PSU in enough? Even for overclocking?
 
Thank you all, that is very reassuring. However, if I want to sometime purchase a second 4890 to Crossfire, I'm gonna buy a 24pin extension cable, cut off all but the last 4 pins on both side of that extension cable (the 4 pins which aren't used if I use the dual psu cable) and just use that to effectively have a 24pin dual PSU cable.

ganzey, that is pretty amazing that you have that with only 17 amps... is your system stable? And how many watts do you have? 350?
