I couldn't decide which topic that this would fit into, so idc if it gets shifted around.
Here's the problem:
I have an HIS ATI HD4850 512DDR3, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161259 . I have never had a problem with temperature before, and have never tried overclocking. So I have not had any reason to change fan speed or anything. However, I recently got Starcraft II; that game is literally melting people's GPUs. With my case closed, the game will get my video card up to 110+ degrees. So I opened my case and put a small desktop fan about 6 inches away from the card, and it still gets up to 90-100 degrees after playing for about 10 minutes (the card idles at 47-48 with this setup). This of course scares me, because this is a game that I play for 5+ hours at a time.
So I wanted to change my fan speed. For some reason, Catalyst control center does not have the option to control fan speed (yes it is the latest version). I tried the manual fix by creating a profile and editing the file, yet there was no difference in sound or temperature between 25% and 100% fan speed. So I downloaded Rivatuner, and again, there was no difference in sound or temp between 25% and 100%. Obviously, my fan speed is not changing. I can't figure out why.
Has anybody else ever come across a problem like this? I'm completely stumped on this
