Problem?

ok basically my computer just keeps on crashing. i re installed windows 7, it was fine for the first day , but now, everytiem i start it crashes, sometimes windows turns on, sometimes it crashes before windows even starts.

Im most positive its a hardware problem. What could be causing this? and how do i fix it?

Its a Quad core acer PC, with 4 GB ram, Nvdia graphics card and a TB of Harddrive.

also in device manager, its telling me my co processor driver isnt installed. whats the co processor?
 
A co processor is as the name says, another processor, it usually does stuff like floating point calculations and de/encryption. When it says you don't have the drivers, that is usually referring to your chipset, it isn't a surprise you don't have them, as you formatted/reinstalled on a prebuilt system, so the windows drivers and driver CD usually doesn't have them.

What is the specific Acer PC you have? Will be able to find it from that

when i get home ill find the model number and post it here. do you think this is why it freezes all the time?
 
That sounds like a good bet. Errors with floating point calculations and de/encryption would not surprise me if they created problems

most probably. everything has to go through your chipset to get to/from the CPU, memory and expansion slots, so if it is creating errors as it doesn't know what to do (which it won't if it doesn't have the drivers installed), it will ofcourse be causeing you problems
 
Go here, and select the model. Then, select your OS. Then, download the driver for the chipset, and if anything else isn't working, you can get the driver for that as well.

I am honestly not sure. I just saw where you needed the chipset driver and so there ya go. However, like they said, it could be screwing up the calculations and stuff, so that should help. They will be on later or other people may be able to explain it better.

Calculation error, be it when calculating float point integers, encrypting/decrypting data, signal processing, whatever, but when starting up windows, the data going through the northbridge (if it is that which is the problem) isn't being processed properly and causeing the system to hang
 
basically my friend gave it to me , he didnt know what was wrong with it, he thought it had viruses, so i took it , reformated windows and thought that was it, but it keeps on freezing. ive unplugged the hard drive, still freezing, unplugged one of the rams, still freezing. i really have no idea why its doing it. any ideas what component of the pc might be causing this. this is deffinetly not a software problem as i just freshly installed windows 7.

sorry, i half understood that. so how can i fix it? because tbh i dont even have time to load windows and install the chipset driver.

and i made a mistake in the model, its a ASPIRE M3641

Does the co processor in device manager have a yellow ! next to it?

What version of windows are you running? Is it 32 or 64 bit, and is it home premium, business, ultimate etc?

If you aren't sure, click the start menu and right click computer, then click properties. You will have something like this, and you want to be looking at the red boxes:

it hasnt got a yellow thing next to it, and its 32bit. but i know all this, i didnt check , because the computer wont even turn onto windows now, it freezes before.
