If you're scared to break something, do the nearly guaranteed OCs of these 2 CPUs. 3.6GHz for the E8400 and 3.0GHz for the quad. Both of those OCs are stable on stock voltage for most and are as simple as raising the FSB in the bios.

well with my setup, i have 100Watts to waste, so if i take the core 2 duo to 3.6 ghz will i be ok.. as it sits right now newegg's power supply calculator says i need 448watts, but im getting the cosair 550w, will there be enough left to get it to 3.6ghz? also where is a walk through for the 3.6 ghz.
and on a side note.. i probably wont go with the q6600, because the calc says if i get that i need 550w.. so no oc anyways.. and i would want it at 3.0.. unless you guys know a good supply tahts 600-650 for around 100$.

looking into it a bit. looks like it has to be MoBo Friendly. will this MoBo allow me to OC the 2.4 ghz quad to 3.0?
