Q6600 questions

*sigh* it seems as you too are interpreting the core temperatures as the processor says..I'll simplify by only saying what the bios says. At stock voltage and speed, bios reports about 29C under load for me. If I leave it at stock speed, I can lower the voltage to 1.25 and have it still be stable, so this drops to about 26C under load.

look, the only reason I've been stressing that people should worry about core temps and ignore what the bios gives is because that's what all the other forums and people say to do, but you all seem to focus on the bios temperature so here you go >_>.

If this were a poll I'd vote on you getting the e6850. But everyone else on this one forum seems to disagree, so choose what you will. I'm suggesting this from my regret of choosing the q6600 over the e6850.

PLEASE don't make things up when you're not knowledgeable on a topic, it makes you sound exponentially stupider than you would appear otherwise. (the quote "One can close their mouth and appear stupid, or open it and remove all doubt" comes to mind).

The power supply is not relevant in this case at all. 500 watts is more than enough and if anything would hit the performance, it would be the amperage on the voltage railing that the cpu uses...I doubt any psus, even the crappy ones, fall short on that railing, (usually they cheap out on the 12v one). As far as heat goes, the PSU is in a separate chamber and has 2 120mm fans blowing at it in my case, and as far as voltage goes, one tries to attain the LOWEST POSSIBLE STABLE VOLTAGE, as it'll result in less heat being emitted from the processor.

agh, i'm seriously sick of this forum, I think I might just stick to 4chan's /g/ or a tech forum with more people like kof, praetor, and intelcrazy, etc.

Look, I agree with wafflez, the E6850 is a beast, but better, No, they really can't be compared. It's like comparing a Ferrari to a Hummer, sure the Ferrari can outrun it on the streets but not on off-road terrain. You see what my choice was/is, the E6850, I could've gotten a Q6600, but I wanted this b/c I can hit 4Ghz+

As INTELCRAZY said, you can't really compare them since one is a dual-core and one is a quad-core. Sure right now the E6850 will be the best performer in all games and most apps, but shortly there will be games and apps that will take full advantage of quad-cores, then the Q6600 will be in the lead.
