Quad Core or Dual Core

I'm looking at buying a computer with an intel 2.4GHz Quad Core another similar computer is an intel 3.0Ghz Dual Core. Can anyone tell me which is better.

The quad is more future proof, but the duo will give you slightly better performance in current apps and games, but when apps and games take advantage of cores, the Q6600 will blow the duo away

He's probably talking about the E6850 compared to the Q6600. Both are about the same price.

q6600, OC it and it will tear through anything. but keep in mind once the 45nm comes out the q6600 will be old news

Or are they replacing the current chips out now from Intel?

as long as you have two of the 9-series GeForce GPU's SLI'd on a PCI-e 2.0 board....
or two of the 3870's crossfired on a PCI-e 2.0 board.

However the E6750 has a higher FSB (by about 244mhz) and a higher core speed (but only by 233Mhz). But the Q6600 has double the cache, and the obvious, more cores.

I would say the Q6600 is a better purchase.

And you don't think a single 9800GTX will run Crysis on max settings with the new Processor coming out? That tagging along with DDR3?

when the new processor comes out, im assuiming ur gonna need a new mobo with it? cant use the 775 socket?
