If you have a Socket A motherboard do you have to have a socket a processor or doesnt that matter which socket???

my firend has a problem when he turns on hes pc after 2 secs the pc turn auto off it just wont startup anymore.
What is the problem of that?

Most probably a hardware issue.
Is something appears on the screen? How many beeps do you hear after turning on?

could be a zillion things lol. i would put my money on he didnt plug something in. if its manufactured computer than i put my money on its pretty old and your having power supply issues.

It could be a defective PSU, a short-circuit on the motherboard, or some defective component. Try to remove the RAM, soundcard, hdd, floppy and cd and see what happens at power on.
