Random Freezes and Shutdowns

Temps have been fine. Almost all of the time the bluescreens and restarts occur under casual use and not under load.

Please list your system specs. Unfortunately this dump file says its an Intel issue meaning cpu or possible motherboard. If you are overclocking, put it back to stock settings and see what happens.

Specs: Intel C2D E7400, 4GB DDR2 RAM, Nvidia 8800GTS 640, Asus motherboard. I don't know the rest.
I have been back at stock settings in recent times after a mild overclock of 200mhz for some time. What could be wrong?

Are you sure you are back to stock? Try resetting cmos, that will put settings back to default.

No, a bluescreen won't tell you if a psu is faulty. To reset the cmos...

Unplug power from power supply, remove cmos battery, press the power button on the case for 10 seconds then wait 10 minutes. Then reinsert battery and reconnect power and boot up.

Hey again guys. It looks like the problem is my video card seeing that upon startup recently, I have gotten defective lines at the BIOS screen and then after the loading screen, windows failed to start. Also, no matter what driver I change to whether old or new, my screen freezes with lines and stuff and/or bluescreen on me, now occurring to the point where the PC is unusable. My GPU hasn't gotten heavy use in its 4 years so how could this be. I only game occasionally.

ok guys unfortunately its the video card seeing that when I take it out all is well but when its in and in use I get the vertical lines and now windows don't load beyond startup. I need a new card :(

Or the extra draw on the power supply unit from the included graphics card causes the issue. Your logic certainly may be right, but not certain.

The PSU may not be pushed hard enough without the graphics card installed to display vdroop and graphic anomalies. By removing the graphics card, you haven't confirmed that the graphics card is at fault because it could be fine when used with a good PSU. Please post exactly what PSU you have as asked previously.

Do you have a multimeter? Can you test the graphics card with another computer?

Unfortunately for me, the freezing and random reboots have started again after taking out the video card 2-3 weeks ago. So now i'm not 100% if the Video card is really dead. I wonder if its the PSU, which is a Xtech - JSP-600P08N - 600W. Any more suggestions on what it could be? I'm going to have to get this PC checked professionally :(

I am thinking so now. And while the system is 4 years old the PSU is 2 because I had to get a new one after the first one failed. That failed because it was underpowered. Tired of these PSU problems.

Then stop buying garbage.
