Recurring BSOD's. What could be causing these? BlueScreenView file inside. Time to reformat?

Hi all,

Lately, I've been getting a lot of BSOD. Oddly, some of them have actually been orange as well. No idea what's causing them. Was hoping that someone here could help me figure out what's going on. I've got a Sager NP8651 with these components. Ran a BlueScreenView and these are the results:

Anyone know what might be going on? Would a reformat potentially fix my problem?

If I do reformat, what's the best way to go about it? I'm running Windows 8.1 but don't have the original install CD (not even sure if it came with one). Don't have the CD key although I'm assuming I can pull this from my computer somewhere. What would be the best way to back up everything on my computer? Anyway to save all of my files/applications so that I could easily reload everything after I format?

Thank you!

Zip the following files and attach them to your next reply.

C:\Windows\Minidump\031820-7109-01.dmp
C:\Windows\Minidump\031420-11890-01.dmp

But from the looks of the other dump files, its gonna be a hardware failure.

You won't be using bluescreenview. You navigate to the file location. Once you right click on those files, you'll see where it says send to compressed folder. Then attach the compressed folder.

Unfortunately, these are referring to your processor. Any changes to your system lately? Have you checked cpu temps?

What processor is this laptop using? How old is it?

Processor is an Intel i7-5700HQ @ 2.70GHz. Computer is about 4.5 years old. No major changes to the laptop...I did re-apply thermal paste a few weeks ago. For the life of me, I'm trying to think if the BSODs were as frequent prior to me doing that. I want to say no but it's hard to say for sure. Re-applying thermal paste did bring my CPU temps down quite a bit though. Think I'm at about 70C. And it boosted my FPS considerably in Apex Legends. I will say...these BSODs only seem to happen when I'm playing that game. Whether that's due to the game itself, or my computer just running hot at those times I have no idea. Totally anecdotal, of course.

If that 70C is at idle then its still too hot. I suspect your cpu may have overheated and is now damaged.

Dang, okay. Guess it's probably time for a new computer then. Was thinking about getting one soon anyways.

I'll go back and check my temps though. What would be an acceptable range of temperatures while at idle? Acceptable range of temps while gaming?

Not knowing what the temp was before you reapplied thermal paste makes it kinda hard. But it should be somewhere around 50-60C at Idle. Are the vents clear? Max temp for that cpu is 105C But if its been running hot for a long time then it could have been damaged.

The vents are now clear. They definitely were not before. Unfortunately, this was my first time opening up my computer so it would be surprising to me if hot temps had damaged my CPU before.
