Remove Thermal Grease?

I asked at the pharmacy there yep, at all of them, and they said they used to stock isopropyl alcohol products a couple years ago but don't any more.

I asked at one and he said you mean for cleaning and sterilising? I said no, for removing thermal grease. He looked a little confused to say the least :P

I think this could potentially be known as threadjacking now though, so enough with my stories about boots and rubbing alcohol

lol SOMEBODY CALL THE POLICE WE GOT A THREADJACKER AND HE HAS A LOT OF MEDICINAL ALCOHOL D:

TY guys for responses! I personally don't have the time to get myself ArctiClean right now, however for the first time use, I think I'll just go with the credit-card removal method of the pads and then use a lens-cleaning cloth to go over it... And then after some time, get ArctiClean and reapply AS5 again. What do you think?

Anyways, can someone tell me how to install the CPU (NOT the heatsink!)? After the triangle is aligned to the bottom left corner, do I press down on the CPU to push it into place or just place it on top of the LGA1156 socket? Much appreciated, ty!

Find the orientation (triangle in the corner lined up) and then line the notches on the side up and drop it in place. Put the cover over and lock it down and that is it, you don't push it

TBH I never have a problem wiping with toilet roll :p I have bought some cpu's where it's baked on hardcore tho and needs nothing short of sandpaper to remove lol.

Hey guys, I managed to set everything up, using just a lint-free cloth to clean the base of the HSF. After applying a vertical line on the CPU and placing the HSF... I'm getting averages of 45-53C in BIOS. (Idle temps). That's pretty hot if you ask me... Meh, I'm gonna get some ArctiClean tomorrow and re-install the HSF.

I have some questions, do I use the ArctiClean on the heatsink AND the CPU? And use the lint-free cloth to clean off the heatsink/fan AND the CPU too? thanks guys

You must clean both yes.

How much thermal grease did you put on? If you put a line across the whole thing, you will have had too much on and that will most probably be the reason that your temps are too high. You need a literally just a small blob, then put the HSF straight on without lifting up again if possible, because this can (and most probably will) cause small air bubbles
