Scrat, the SCUMM engine is freeware nowadays I think, I got it together with Beneath a Steel Sky. A nice game I never finished playing. So I guess you can get the Zak McKracken game somewhere for free. I downloaded SCUMM first you can get it from various places legally for free and then I downloaded Beneath a Steel Sky which I then ran using SCUMM.
