Okay I just got a free computer. Its not great, but i want to abuse it since i cant think of much to do with it, other than make it a Torrent server...or something like that. ANYWAYS heres what it is (I think.)
A dual proc Pentium III (I believe 1.8Ghz total, Im really not all that sure yet.)
ASUS CUV4X-DLS
2 gigs of cheap generic SDRAM
82 gig harddrive
Manufacturer's product description
The ASUS CUV4X-DLS Dual Processor Mainboard is based on VIA 694XDP AGPset with ATX form factor for the latest support in Intel Pentium III 500MHz,1130MHz+ Coppermine processors. This fascinating chipset is equipped with onboard Intel 82559 LAN, LSI Ultra160 SCSI, 133MHz Front Side Bus (FSB), 4GB PC133/PC100 SDRAM support, AGP PRO/4X, Ultra DMA/100 and 66 IDE plus Wake-On LAN & Ring. It is also bundled with ASUS PC Health Monitoring to monitor and ensure maximum safety for your PC. VIA 694XDP is a high performance chipset, which provides 133MHz memory bandwidth to supports a wide range of PC133 memory devices.
Its nothing special, I'm just not quite sure what to do with it. I don't really want to spend any money on it, so buying shit is really out of the question...though not completely. If you have any interesting ideas, feel free to suggest them. If you feel this thing is overclockable tell me! I will give more info when i get home and get it stripped.
My 1/2 assed ideas:
- I would like a machine thats sole purpose in life is to download/upload torrents from people. I can then in turn take them off of that machine and use them on my gaming rig, or whatever.
- CS:S or HLDM dedicated server? Is this thing powerful enough to do this? remotely effectively?
