Should i get a PSP

I really cant decide. I want to get something that i can watch movies on, and listen to music. The PSP is cheaper, has a larger display, and also has gaming and internet capabilities, but most likely i wont be gaming since i dont feel like spending $30-$40 for a game.

So do you think the PSP would be worth it, or should i just save my money for something else? Also, if anyone has a PSP if they can just tell me what you think about it, since i cant find many reviews online.

I have a white psp, Had it for about a month and to be honest they are not worth the money unless you will spend £30-£35 on a game. The battery life for listening to music is around 4 hours, and for playing games around 2 and a half, the screen is big but if you are on the move it could easily be broken. I would go for a video Ipod if the gaming doesnt bother you too much.

Thanks for your opinion. I most likely wouldnt buy any games or UMD movies, so if i do want a portable video play i guess i would go with the iPod or other video player.

Yeah, I have a video iPod, and it has a little over 3 hours worth of video play and probably around 8 or more for audio.

if you get a psp for 250, youll have to spend 100-150 on a 1gb flash card so there is 350-400. just pay 300 for an ipod.

I'd recommend, if you get a PSP, to get a screen protector. The screens are too sensitive for my liking. Although i don't own one, my mate's psp within months was scratched.

it depends on the type of game you like... luckily for me i really like racing games and there are plenty on there... also ive had a LOT longer than 4 hours out of my system for mp3's.
i would suggest you look out for particular games/types of games that interest you and play test them in store if possible... thats the only thing i would suggest

It would mainly be for music/video.

I also spent £30 on a 2GB memory stick which is very easily filled with mp3's. Trust me, get yourself a 30gb video ipod, those arm bands look nice for them too :p

to further that... i tried some big headphones and they were actually louder... i was told it was to reduce the power being pumped into your ears to stop you damaging yourself

I am not fan of PSP's. As others have mentioned, if you are not into the games, a better choice would be the Ipod.

I only listen to music either with my home stereo system or my car stereo system and I have no need for a mp3 player. But if I did, I would get an Ipod.

Look into the iAudio devices as well, they are basically an iPod laternative. Videos, music, portable HDD, picture viewer, FM tuner, etc. I do believe you can install small games on them just like the video iPod as well.

I have a PSP and i get more then 2 and half hours of gaming time. its more like 5 or 6. If you want to get a PSP you need to use everything on it or it is not worth it. i use it for the games movies internet and music and it is really expensive I have 9 games and 1 movie and i plan to get more. i have $630 into right now and i regret it but it is great to have but it is not worth the money and if you do get one get a screen protector right away the screens scratch easily.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

And to the person who commented on the price of the memory cards, i can get a 2GB one for around $40-$50 on eBay.

Seems like you could opt to spend $400-$1000 into a PSP, and not use it for games at all, hope for one with old firmware, etc.

Or spend $200-300 on an iPod or iAudio and do all the same stuff. Not to mention, 30-60GB of space? Seems like an obvious answer to me. The PSP is only worth it if you want to use ALL its features, and can afford do spend hundreds using them.
